CIS LEBANON SECURITY INDEX – March 19 2026

Thursday, March 19, 2026 | Ramadan Day 29 — Eve of Eid al-Fitr
⛔ ACTIVE WAR — DAY 20 | EID UNDER BOMBARDMENT
INDEX LEVEL: 🔴🔴 CATASTROPHIC OVERALL INDEX: 99/100 TREND: ⬆️ MAXIMUM — GROUND WAR INTENSIFYING; DIPLOMATIC SURGE UNDERWAY
⛔ EMERGENCY PREAMBLE — MARCH 19, 2026
LEBANON IS AT WAR ON EID AL-FITR EVE. DAY 20.
The war that began March 2 has now killed over 1,000 people in Lebanon — crossing a devastating milestone today. More than 1 million Lebanese have been displaced — 19% of the entire country’s population. The IDF has launched a formal ground operation (March 16) with three divisions — the 36th, 91st and 146th — operating deep in south Lebanon. Hezbollah destroyed six Israeli Merkava tanks in a single night ambush in Taybeh this week. Israel has bombed the Litani River bridge cutting off the south. 56 people were killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon in the past 24 hours alone, bringing the total to 1,001.
The World Health Organization has confirmed over 100 children are among the dead. 40 healthcare workers have been killed. Sheikh Ragheb Harb University Hospital in Nabatieh has been damaged by an IDF strike. UN Secretary-General António Guterres visited Beirut this week calling for an immediate ceasefire. French FM Jean-Noel Barrot is in Beirut today. Qatar warns Iranian attacks have knocked out 17% of its LNG capacity — $20 billion in annual revenue lost.
Muslims across Lebanon will observe Eid al-Fitr tomorrow — displaced, homeless, in shelters, in cars, on pavements — unable to return to their homes south of the Litani.

🚨 ALL BREAKING DEVELOPMENTS — THURSDAY MARCH 19, 2026
🔴 #1 — 1,001 KILLED IN LEBANON — MILESTONE CROSSED TODAY; 56 IN PAST 24 HOURS
[Al Jazeera — 3 hours ago; Lebanese Ministry of Health — confirmed today]
Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health confirmed today that Israeli attacks have killed 1,001 people since March 2 — crossing the 1,000 threshold today. The breakdown: 79 women, 118 children, 40 healthcare workers. More than 2,584 people have been wounded. The WHO has separately confirmed over 100 of the dead are children. In the past 24 hours alone, 56 people were killed and more than 100 injured — the single deadliest 24-hour period since the war began. The International Organization for Migration has confirmed that more than 1 million Lebanese have been forced to flee their homes — 19% of the country’s entire population. This is the worst displacement crisis in Lebanon’s history.
🔴 #2 — HEZBOLLAH DESTROYS 6 MERKAVA TANKS IN TAYBEH AMBUSH — OVERNIGHT
[Palestine Chronicle / Al-Manar / Courthouse News — all confirmed today]
In the most significant Hezbollah battlefield success of the entire war, fighters from the Islamic Resistance conducted a coordinated multi-wave ambush in Taybeh, Bint Jbeil District, overnight — destroying six Israeli Merkava tanks with guided missiles in a single night operation. The sequence:
- 00:05 — Direct hit on first tank at Baydar al-Faqani
- 01:15 — Two more tanks destroyed as Israeli forces attempted to advance
- 01:30 — Two additional tanks hit with guided missiles; total six
- Follow-up — When Israel sent helicopters to evacuate casualties, Hezbollah fired missile salvos at the evacuation zone in two waves (21:00 and 21:20 local)
- Dawn — Israeli warplanes launched extensive raids on Taybeh in response
“Enemy soldiers were seen fleeing the area of engagement,” Hezbollah stated. Israeli Channel 12 reported “shock” among settlers at continued missile effectiveness. Israeli military censorship restricted publication of casualty details from this engagement. IDF has acknowledged at least two soldiers killed and 12 wounded since the ground operation began — the Taybeh ambush likely accounts for a significant portion of those figures.
Qassam Brigades (Hamas) sent a public message to Hezbollah: “Complete the mission.” This is the first time Hamas has publicly cheered Hezbollah’s ground combat during this war.
🔴 #3 — IDF FORMAL GROUND OPERATION NOW IN THIRD WEEK — THREE DIVISIONS; KHIAM BATTLE
[Al Jazeera / Jerusalem Post / Times of Israel — all confirmed]
The IDF’s formal ground operation, launched March 16, is now entering its fourth day with three divisions confirmed operating inside Lebanese territory:
- 91st Division — eastern sector, Khiam axis — the strategic gateway to south Lebanon and Litani River
- 36th Division — central sector, Taybeh-Deir Siryan axis (site of this week’s tank ambush)
- 146th Division — western sector, coastal axis toward Tyre
Defence Minister Katz explicitly compared the operation to Gaza: “The IDF has begun a ground maneuver in Lebanon to remove threats and protect the residents of Galilee and the north. Hundreds of thousands of Shi’ite residents of south Lebanon who have evacuated will not return south of the Litani until the safety of northern residents is guaranteed.” He stated Israel intends to “destroy terror infrastructure close to the border… just as was done against Hamas in Rafah, Beit Hanoun, and the terror tunnels in Gaza.”
IDF sources say Israeli forces reached Tel al-Nahas on the second day of clashes, attempted to establish berms, before tanks were targeted by guided missiles. Hezbollah has also hit three Merkava tanks in the Khiam area in earlier engagements. The Lebanese Army has withdrawn from Khiam and adjacent areas. UNIFIL has confirmed Israeli soldiers entered: Kfar Kila, Houla, Kfar Shouba, Yaroun, and Khiam.
🔴 #4 — AL-QASIMIYA BRIDGE COMPLETELY CUT OFF BY AIRSTRIKE — SOUTH ISOLATED
[LiveUAMap Lebanon — confirmed today]
An Israeli airstrike has completely cut off the Al-Qasimiya Bridge — one of the main crossings over the Litani River connecting south Lebanon to the rest of the country. This follows Israel’s March 16 destruction of two Litani River bridges, effectively severing the south from north Lebanon for civilian movement and supply. Israel stated the bridges were targeted “to prevent the transfer of reinforcements and weapons to frontlines.” The UN and humanitarian organisations warn the bridge destruction creates a catastrophic blockade on aid, medical supplies, and food delivery to approximately 400,000 people still believed to be in areas south of the Litani under IDF evacuation orders.
🔴 #5 — SHEIKH RAGHEB HARB UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL STRUCK — ICU DAMAGED — WAR CRIME
[Al Jazeera / LiveUAMap — confirmed today]
An Israeli attack on a building adjacent to Sheikh Ragheb Harb University Hospital in Toul, on the outskirts of Nabatieh, caused significant damage to multiple hospital facilities including the intensive care unit. The hospital’s management issued a statement calling it “a flagrant violation of international law and a direct threat to the safety of patients and staff.” This is the latest in a pattern of attacks on Lebanese health infrastructure. The UN, WHO, and Amnesty International have all urged Israel to halt attacks on healthcare workers and facilities. 40 healthcare workers have been killed since March 2 — the highest toll of healthcare workers killed in any Lebanon conflict in recorded history.
🔴 #6 — CIVIL DEFENCE WORKER KILLED IN SIDON — STATE FUNERAL TODAY
[Reuters — AP Photo confirms, confirmed today]
A Lebanese civil defence member was killed in an Israeli attack on Sidon. Mourners attending the funeral were photographed by Reuters photographer Amr Abdallah Dalsh — the funeral image has been widely published internationally today, becoming one of the defining images of this war. Sidon — Lebanon’s third largest city and the primary refuge for hundreds of thousands of displaced southern Lebanese — has now been struck repeatedly, killing aid workers and rescuers alongside civilians.
🔴 #7 — FRENCH FM BARROT IN BEIRUT TODAY — MEETS AOUN; DOUBLES HUMANITARIAN AID
[Al Jazeera — confirmed today; French Foreign Ministry — confirmed]
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot arrived in Beirut today in a show of “France’s support and solidarity with the Lebanese people.” He met with President Aoun, PM Salam, and Parliament Speaker Berri. Barrot’s statement after meeting displaced families in Beirut: “In solidarity with the Lebanese people, dragged into a war they didn’t choose, we are doubling our humanitarian assistance to Lebanon to 17 million euros [$20 million].”
Aoun’s office confirmed Barrot “expressed France’s readiness to work toward putting an end to the military escalation.” Barrot called on Israel to cease operations and for Hezbollah to stop firing and hand over weapons. Barrot and German FM Wadephul jointly called on Wednesday for “the swiftest possible de-escalation and a cessation of hostilities.” Wadephul warned: the war could plunge the world into “a crisis of the gravest order” if supply chains remain disrupted — fertiliser from the region alone threatens an African food crisis.
🔴 #8 — AOUN’S FOUR-POINT DIPLOMATIC INITIATIVE — KARAM DELEGATION — ABRAHAM ACCORDS REPORTED
[Meir Amit Intelligence Center / Naharnet / multiple sources — confirmed]
President Aoun has been actively promoting a four-point diplomatic initiative to end the fighting:
- An immediate truce
- Direct negotiations with Israel — under US auspices, potentially in Cyprus or Paris
- Israeli military withdrawal from Lebanese territory
- Lebanese Army full deployment throughout Lebanese territory
A Lebanese negotiating delegation led by Simon Karam is being assembled for direct, US-mediated talks with Israel. Speaker Berri has said he supports the initiative but conditions his backing on a ceasefire and return of displaced people.
However, Israel denied direct talks are planned (Foreign Minister Sa’ar). Reports from Naharnet and Naharnet’s sources have cited Israeli envoy Ron Dermer visiting Saudi Arabia to discuss a “new arrangement” for Lebanon that could potentially bring Lebanon into the Abraham Accords framework — the most dramatic diplomatic possibility of the entire war. Hezbollah MP Ezz al-Din attacked the initiative as concessions to Israel “for free.”
🔴 #9 — UN SG GUTERRES IN BEIRUT — “THEY DID NOT CHOOSE THIS WAR”
[UN News / GlobalSecurity.org — confirmed]
UN Secretary-General António Guterres visited Beirut this week, describing it as “a visit of solidarity with the people of Lebanon. They did not choose this war. They were dragged into it.” His key statements:
- Called for immediate ceasefire — both sides to stop
- Praised Lebanese government’s “historic decision to establish a monopoly of arms”
- Called on Hezbollah to “abide by all Security Council resolutions and hand over weapons”
- Condemned attacks on UNIFIL peacekeepers: “Attacks against peacekeepers are completely unacceptable and must stop”
- Visited the injured Ghanaian UNIFIL peacekeeper at hospital
- Described the November 2024 arrangement as “more a lesser fire than a real ceasefire”
Guterres’ Special Coordinator Hennis-Plasschaert has been engaging “all actors around the clock to bring the parties to the table.”
🔴 #10 — HEZBOLLAH FIRES CLUSTER MUNITIONS AT HAIFA — COORDINATED WITH IRAN MISSILES
[Multiple sources — confirmed March 18-19]
Hezbollah has now used cluster munitions against Israeli targets — specifically targeting the Haifa area in a coordinated strike simultaneous with Iranian missile launches. This marks the first confirmed Hezbollah cluster munition use of the war. Cluster munitions are prohibited by the Convention on Cluster Munitions (which neither Israel nor Lebanon has signed). Haifa’s petrochemical plant has been hit by Iranian missiles — causing blackouts across large areas of Israel. Iran’s IRGC live blog confirmed as Day 20 headline: “Haifa Petrochemical Plant Hit as Iranian Missiles Trigger Blackouts Across Israel.”
🔴 #11 — QATAR LNG: 17% CAPACITY KNOCKED OUT — $20BN ANNUAL REVENUE LOST; WTO FOOD CRISIS WARNING
[Al Jazeera live — 10 minutes ago]
QatarEnergy’s CEO confirmed today that Iranian attacks have knocked out 17% of Qatar’s liquefied natural gas export capacity, causing an estimated $20 billion in lost annual revenue while threatening supplies to Europe and Asia. Qatar is the world’s largest LNG exporter — any disruption to Qatari LNG supply directly threatens European energy security and global gas prices. Oil remains above $100/barrel (Brent crude). The WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala warned the war poses “a dire threat to global food security” and could “weigh heavily on already slowing global trade.” “Sustained increases in energy prices could increase risks for global trade, with potential spillovers for food security and cost pressures on consumers and businesses.”
Six Western allies — Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the Netherlands — signed a joint statement saying they were ready “to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.” Trump has hinted at a potential NATO exit after the alliance ruled out deploying naval assets to reopen the Strait.
🔴 #12 — EID AL-FITR TOMORROW — 1 MILLION DISPLACED; “NO JOY FOR EID OR FOR RAMADAN”
[AP / Washington Times — 2 hours ago]
Eid al-Fitr — the end of Ramadan, Islam’s holiest month — falls tomorrow (March 20). Lebanese Muslims will observe it under the most devastating wartime conditions in Lebanon’s history:
- 1 million displaced — in shelters, schools, cars, tents, on pavements
- Schools converted into shelters are packed; classrooms filled wall-to-wall with mattresses
- WFP has served 500,000+ hot meals to displaced persons since March 2 — far short of what is needed
- WFP’s Carl Skau: “People here have endured crisis after crisis. They’ve been displaced before. But that doesn’t make it any easier. My concern is that the funding is not coming forward like it did last time. We know there is less money available. We know there are also competing priorities.”
- Basma Alloush (IRC): Many displaced children have one wish — “to just spend Eid at home.” Instead they will spend it “in shelters, in displacement”
- Lilian Jamaan from her school-shelter in Sidon: “There’s no joy for Eid or for Ramadan or for anything”
🔴 #13 — AOUN ACCUSES HEZBOLLAH OF WORKING TOWARD “COLLAPSE OF THE STATE”
[Al Jazeera / EU Foreign Affairs Chief Kallas — confirmed March 16-17]
In the most direct presidential condemnation of Hezbollah in Lebanese history, President Joseph Aoun publicly accused Hezbollah of working toward “the collapse of the state.” EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas called on Hezbollah to “cease all actions against Israel” while also calling on Israel to “cease its operations in Lebanon,” warning it “risks drawing Lebanon and its people into a war that is not theirs.”
Lebanon’s Information Minister Paul Morkos has ordered all state media, television, radio and the national news agency to stop using the word “resistance” in reference to Hezbollah. This terminological ban — unprecedented in Lebanon’s history — represents a formal state declaration that Hezbollah is not a resistance movement but an illegal armed group. Lebanese judges have begun formal legal proceedings against Hezbollah members over the March 1 rocket launches. Over 150 Iranian nationals — including IRGC officers and diplomats — have departed Beirut following Lebanon’s announcement that it would “arrest and repatriate” anyone connected to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
🔴 #14 — THREE SCENARIOS FOR LEBANON — ANALYSTS
[Macquarie University / The Conversation — published today, March 19]
Academic analysts today published the definitive scenario framework for Lebanon’s trajectory:
Scenario 1 — Limited Operation (Most Desirable for Israel; High Risk): A short ground operation of a few weeks. Risk: insufficient to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure; historically failed to stop rocket attacks.
Scenario 2 — Prolonged Guerrilla War (Most Likely): Hezbollah mirrors Iran’s “war of attrition” strategy. Doesn’t need to win — just hold on long enough for global/domestic pressure to force US and Israel to stop. Then claims victory. Already occurring: 6 Merkava tanks destroyed in one night; 200+ rockets in one day; Hezbollah showing it is not defeated.
Scenario 3 — Lebanese Civil War (Most Catastrophic): Power vacuum, civil war eruption similar to 1975-1990. Major surge of refugees across borders. Would “spill over into Europe” mirroring Syrian crisis. Palestinian and Syrian refugee populations already in Lebanon (2.7 million combined) compound the risk.
Analysis: Scenario 2 is the current trajectory. Scenario 3 risk is rising given Aoun’s “collapse of state” accusation and Hezbollah-government political rupture.
🌡️ GOVERNORATE SECURITY INDEX — MARCH 19, 2026
🏙️ BEIRUT
Index: 97/100 🔴🔴 | Trend: ⬆️ CRITICAL — DIPLOMATIC SURGE; KINETIC ONGOING
Beirut today hosts the most intense diplomatic activity of the war: French FM Barrot meeting Aoun; UN SG Guterres having visited this week; Karam delegation forming for possible direct talks with Israel; four-point Aoun initiative active. This diplomatic surge — unprecedented since the war began — reflects the scale of international alarm at the 1,000+ death toll milestone crossed today.
Kinetically, Beirut’s Dahiyeh remains under continuous strike pressure. Al-Manar TV director was killed in Beirut strikes on March 16. 12 people were killed in central Beirut strikes on March 16. IDF continues targeting what it describes as Hezbollah financial, media, and command infrastructure in the southern suburbs.
The displacement crisis has transformed Beirut: over 1 million people displaced nationally, with hundreds of thousands sheltering in Beirut schools, mosques, public buildings, and on the seafront corniche. Martyrs’ Square has become an open-air refugee camp.
Key Factor Today: French FM Barrot in Beirut; Aoun four-point initiative; 1,000 killed milestone; Karam delegation forming; Eid al-Fitr tomorrow.
🏞️ MOUNT LEBANON
Index: 88/100 🔴 | Trend: ⬆️ MAXIMUM DISPLACEMENT
Mount Lebanon is the primary destination for displaced populations. Every collective shelter is overwhelmed. Jounieh, Jbeil, and coastal communities are hosting tens of thousands of displaced families. The Eid al-Fitr holiday tomorrow, normally a joyous occasion bringing Lebanese families together, will instead see hundreds of thousands of displaced people unable to return home.
The Karam delegation for Israel talks is drawn from Beirut/Mount Lebanon political circles — representing the Lebanese state’s attempt to engage diplomatically while under fire.
🌊 NORTH LEBANON & TRIPOLI
Index: 84/100 🔴 | Trend: Elevated
North Lebanon and Tripoli continue receiving displaced persons. Tripoli’s collective shelters — already overwhelmed — are receiving more families as the south is progressively isolated by bridge destruction. The Al-Qasimiya Bridge cutoff today makes Tripoli an even more critical transit and destination hub. NGO food distribution (Anera, IRC, WFP) continues at scale.
🌲 AKKAR
Index: 86/100 🔴 | Trend: Elevated
The Syria-Lebanon border crossing at Joussieh continues to handle massive population flows: 119,000 Syrians have crossed back into Syria; only 7% of border crossers are Lebanese. The border corridor in Akkar and Hermel is under pressure from multiple directions. Lebanese Army border operations continue in a complex environment.
🍇 BEQAA VALLEY
Index: 97/100 🔴🔴 | Trend: 🚨 MAXIMUM — ACTIVE OPERATIONS; BRIDGE DESTRUCTION
The Bekaa Valley remains at catastrophic risk. Active IDF strikes continue across the valley — confirmed today: Janta bridge in the Al-Shaara area of Janta town (Bekaa Valley) destroyed by airstrike; Shaath in Baalbek struck. The Al-Qasimiya Bridge destruction today and prior Litani bridge strikes have severed the Bekaa’s connection to coastal Lebanon for civilian movement.
Hezbollah’s remaining Bekaa infrastructure is under continuous degradation. Iran’s military advisers have departed (150+ Iranian nationals including IRGC officers left Lebanon following Lebanon’s arrest-and-repatriate announcement). The loss of IRGC command-and-control in the Bekaa is significant but does not mean Hezbollah operations have ceased — as the Taybeh tank ambush demonstrates.
DO NOT TRAVEL TO BEKAA VALLEY. ACTIVE STRIKES; BRIDGES DESTROYED.
🕌 BAALBEK-HERMEL
Index: 98/100 🔴🔴 | Trend: 🚨 MAXIMUM
Baalbek-Hermel remains the most intensely struck governorate in Lebanon. Shaath in Baalbek has been struck today. The Nabi Sheet massacre (41 killed, March 7), the Riyaq operation (10 killed, February 20), and ongoing daily strikes continue to devastate this region. The hospital strike (Sheikh Ragheb Harb Hospital in Toul, adjacent to Nabatieh) damaged the ICU — a war crime violation adjacent to this governorate.
NO CIVILIAN SHOULD BE IN BAALBEK-HERMEL. ACTIVE WAR ZONE.
🏛️ KESERWAN-JBEIL
Index: 82/100 🔴 | Trend: Elevated — Displacement Reception
Keserwan-Jbeil continues as a primary displacement reception zone. No direct strikes reported. The Eid al-Fitr holiday will see displaced families in shelters and public spaces throughout this normally peaceful governorate.
🌴 SOUTH LEBANON
Index: 99/100 🔴🔴 | Status: ACTIVE FULL-SCALE GROUND WAR
South Lebanon is a full active war zone with three IDF divisions operating inside Lebanese territory. Key confirmed facts today:
Bridge destruction: Al-Qasimiya Bridge completely cut off today. Two Litani bridges destroyed March 16. The south is physically severed from north Lebanon.
Ground combat: 91st Division in Khiam (strategic gateway). 36th Division in Taybeh-Deir Siryan axis — 6 Merkava tanks destroyed by Hezbollah overnight in Taybeh. 146th Division in western coastal sector toward Tyre.
Hospital struck: Sheikh Ragheb Harb University Hospital, Toul (Nabatieh outskirts) — ICU damaged today.
Civil defence funeral in Sidon: Civil defence worker killed by Israeli strike — Reuters images published worldwide today.
Al-Manar sources: After 18 months of Israeli claims Hezbollah was dismantled south of Litani, “advancing enemy forces encountered a different reality” — Hezbollah fighters “have surfaced in a series of fierce engagements, confronting Israeli attempts to advance.”
Hezbollah shoot-down: Hezbollah confirmed it shot down an Israeli Hermes 450 drone over Bint Jbeil — demonstrating retained air defence capability.
1 million under evacuation orders: Entire territory south of Litani, plus coastal zones, under IDF orders to evacuate. Displaced people in shelters cannot return for Eid al-Fitr.
⛪ NABATIEH
Index: 99/100 🔴🔴 | Status: MAXIMUM DANGER — HOSPITAL STRUCK; ACTIVE GROUND COMBAT
Nabatieh Governorate is at maximum danger today. The hospital strike on Sheikh Ragheb Harb is within this governorate. Ground combat continues in Khiam, Taybeh, Yaroun, Kfar Kila, and Houla. UNIFIL has confirmed Israeli soldiers entered multiple Nabatieh towns. The Lebanese Army has withdrawn from the area. This is an active multi-front battle space.
Kafrhamam town struck today (LiveUAMap confirmed). Ongoing strikes across Bint Jbeil, Marjayoun, and Nabatieh districts.
NO CIVILIAN PRESENCE IN NABATIEH IS SAFE.

⚠️ DIPLOMATIC ASSESSMENT — EID EVE
For the first time since March 2, a genuine diplomatic track is emerging — but is far from a ceasefire:
✅ Aoun four-point initiative formally launched and being promoted internationally ✅ Karam delegation forming for possible direct US-mediated talks ✅ French FM in Beirut today; $20m humanitarian aid doubled ✅ Germany calling for “swiftest possible” ceasefire ✅ Six allies signed Strait of Hormuz guarantee statement ✅ Reports of Lebanon-Abraham Accords framework being explored (via Dermer-KSA talks) ✅ UN SG Guterres called for ceasefire this week
❌ Israel formally denied direct talks planned (Sa’ar, March 15) ❌ Trump says US not ready to agree deal to end Iran war (March 15) ❌ Hezbollah calls initiative “concessions for free”; Qmati: “born dead” ❌ Ground war expanding (3 IDF divisions); tank ambushes continuing ❌ Iran threatened “ZERO restraint” if energy infrastructure struck again ❌ Strait of Hormuz still closed; oil above $100; Qatar LNG down 17%
Assessment: The diplomatic gap between the parties remains enormous. No ceasefire is imminent. Eid al-Fitr tomorrow will likely see continued bombardment. The most realistic near-term scenario is a war of attrition — Hezbollah sustaining resistance, Israel grinding forward in the south, and diplomatic efforts slowly gaining traction over weeks rather than days.
🌙 EID AL-FITR EVE — SPECIAL NOTICE
Tomorrow is Eid al-Fitr — the most joyous day in the Islamic calendar, marking the end of Ramadan. Lebanon’s Muslims will observe it:
- 1 million displaced from their homes — sleeping in shelters, schools, cars
- Unable to return south of the Litani under IDF evacuation orders
- South Lebanon physically severed by three destroyed bridges
- 1,001 dead; 2,584+ wounded
- Eid shopping impossible; Eid meals in collective shelters; Eid prayers under bombardment
CIS Security extends Eid Mubarak to all Lebanese communities. The courage, dignity, and resilience of the Lebanese people — enduring their third major conflict in three years — is witnessed and honoured.
📱 EMERGENCY GUIDANCE — MARCH 19, 2026

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RETURN HOME FOR EID. Despite the Eid holiday, there is no ceasefire and no safe corridor to south Lebanon, Nabatieh, Bekaa, Baalbek-Hermel, or Dahiyeh. The Al-Qasimiya Bridge is cut off. Litani bridges destroyed. Ground combat ongoing.
SOUTH LEBANON: Active war zone with three IDF divisions. Hezbollah ambushes ongoing. Hospital struck today. Do not enter under any circumstances.
NABATIEH: Active multi-district ground combat. Hospital struck. UNIFIL confirmed Israeli military entry in multiple towns. Do not enter.
BEKAA VALLEY: Bridges destroyed; airstrike on Janta bridge today; Baalbek area struck. Evacuate westward immediately if still present.
BEIRUT (DAHIYEH): Active strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure continue. Do not return.
CENTRAL BEIRUT: Diplomatic activity today (French FM visiting) but Raouche and Aicha Bakkar were struck in prior days. Maintain emergency plan.

⚠️ FINAL ASSESSMENT — MARCH 19, 2026
Day 20. 1,001 dead. 1 million displaced. Eid eve.
The war has reached a brutal milestone today — 1,000 Lebanese killed — while simultaneously seeing the most intense ground combat yet (6 Merkava tanks destroyed in one ambush) and the most active diplomatic engagement since the war began (French FM in Beirut; Aoun initiative; Karam delegation forming). Lebanon is living the paradox of its wars: diplomacy and destruction accelerating simultaneously.
The three scenarios — limited operation, prolonged guerrilla war, civil war — are all active simultaneously in different parts of the country. Israel is grinding forward in the south. Hezbollah is fighting back effectively. The government is pursuing diplomacy while Hezbollah calls it “concessions for free.” The army refuses to fight Hezbollah directly. The US says it’s not ready for a deal. France is doubling aid and calling for a ceasefire. Iran keeps firing. Oil stays above $100. Qatar’s LNG is cut by 17%.
Lebanon did not choose this war. Its people deserve to observe Eid in their homes. They will spend it in shelters instead.
Eid Mubarak to all. CIS Security stands with Lebanon.
