Lebanon on Orthodox Easter 2026 is a nation that has lost 2,055 of its people in 41 days. Today brought no respite — only new dangers.

The Islamabad talks failed. Trump declared a Hormuz blockade. Netanyahu visited the Lebanese territory Israel occupies. The IDF raided a Lebanese hospital. A Hezbollah commander admitted to deceiving Lebanon’s Army about disarmament. UNIFIL’s vehicles were rammed by Israeli tanks. A 4-month-old Israeli infant was wounded by Hezbollah rockets.

And yet: Tuesday’s Washington talks are still scheduled. For the first time since 1983, Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors will sit across a table at the US State Department. This is not a ceasefire — but it is the framework for one. Lebanon’s position is difficult: 2,055 dead, 6 IDF divisions inside its territory, a deceiving Hezbollah within its borders, and no seat at the Iran nuclear talks that are actually driving the regional timeline.

But Lebanon is still there. Lebanon is negotiating. Lebanon’s government has expelled Iran’s ambassador, banned Hezbollah’s military activities, and agreed to unprecedented direct talks with Israel. In the worst 41 days in its modern history, Lebanon’s state is attempting to function.
