⛔ ACTIVE WAR — DAY 14 OF THE IRAN WAR
INDEX LEVEL: 🔴🔴 CATASTROPHIC OVERALL INDEX: 100/100 TREND: 🚨 MAXIMUM ESCALATION — GROUND INVASION IMMINENT; BEIRUT CENTRE STRUCK
⛔ EMERGENCY STATUS PREAMBLE
THIS IS DAY 14 OF THE US-ISRAELI WAR ON IRAN. LEBANON IS IN FULL-SCALE WAR AND A MAJOR GROUND OFFENSIVE IS NOW IMMINENT.
Today is the most dangerous day of the conflict so far. Since our last edition (March 11), the situation has crossed multiple catastrophic thresholds simultaneously. Lebanon’s death toll has risen from 570 to 687+, with over 1,500 wounded and 800,000–815,000 displaced. Today’s confirmed events:
- BASHOURA, HEART OF CENTRAL BEIRUT — struck by the IDF for the first time. This is the fourth central Beirut neighbourhood hit. The building is less than one kilometre from Martyrs’ Square, the Grand Serail (seat of government), UN offices, international embassies, and Lebanon’s Parliament. This is equivalent to bombing Whitehall.
- RAMLET AL-BAIDA MASSACRE — Israeli double-tap drone strike at 3am on Beirut’s seafront where hundreds of displaced families were sleeping in tents with nowhere else to go. At least 12 confirmed dead, 31+ wounded. Children were killed. Witnesses describe a “little girl thrown into the air.”
- ZUQAQ AL-BLAT (CENTRAL BEIRUT) — evacuation order issued; second central Beirut building threatened with strike in same hour.
- SHAATH (BAALBEK DISTRICT) — 8–9 members of the al-Tahan family killed in a single airstrike on their home.
- BURJ SHAMALI (TYRE DISTRICT) — mother and three sons killed in one family.
- LEBANESE UNIVERSITY (HADATH) — Israeli drone strike killed two academics: Dr. Hussein Bazzi, head of the Faculty of Science, and Dr. Murtada Srour. Lebanon’s only public university has been struck.
- ARAMOUN (residential, south of Beirut): 5 killed, 1 child wounded.
- ZAHRANI RIVER EVACUATION ORDER — Israel has ordered all residents south of the Zahrani River — 40+ kilometres from the border, covering Nabatieh and dozens of additional villages — to move north. This is the largest single displacement order of the war.
- DEFENSE MINISTER KATZ formally warned Lebanon: “We will take the territory and do it ourselves.” Netanyahu and Katz have instructed the IDF to prepare to expand operations in Lebanon. A full-scale ground offensive is now formally being prepared.
- HEZBOLLAH’S LARGEST BARRAGE OF THE WAR — 200 rockets fired at northern Israel overnight in a coordinated operation with Iran. Sirens in Tel Aviv, northern Israel, Haifa Bay.
- MOJTABA KHAMENEI’S FIRST PUBLIC STATEMENT — Iran’s new Supreme Leader broke his silence, threatening to open “other fronts” and calling on Gulf states to shut down all US bases.
- RADWAN UNIT COMMANDER KILLED — Abu Ali Riyan, commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, assassinated.
- IMAM HUSSEIN DIVISION COMMANDERS KILLED — Two senior IRGC/Quds Force commanders killed in Lebanon overnight.
- IRAN STRIKES NUCLEAR FACILITY TALEQAN — Israel struck an Iranian nuclear facility it had previously destroyed in 2024, which had reportedly been rebuilt.
- UN FLASH APPEAL to be launched Friday to mobilise emergency funding for Lebanon — UN calls the situation a “perfect storm” and “full-blown humanitarian catastrophe.”
- 90% OF GOVERNMENT SHELTERS IN LEBANON ARE FULL.
Rafic Hariri International Airport remains open — but KLM and British Airways have cancelled Dubai flights. Depart Lebanon immediately.

🚨 ALL BREAKING DEVELOPMENTS — THURSDAY MARCH 12, 2026
🔴 #1 — RAMLET AL-BAIDA MASSACRE: 12 KILLED, 31 WOUNDED — DISPLACED FAMILIES IN TENTS HIT AT 3AM
[Al Jazeera / Lebanese MoPH / The National / Reuters — confirmed today]
In the most morally catastrophic single strike of the entire Lebanon campaign, Israeli forces carried out a double-tap drone strike at approximately 3am on the seafront area of Ramlet al-Baida — where hundreds of families displaced from southern Lebanon and Dahiyeh had been sleeping in tents, cars, and on mattresses along the Corniche with nowhere else to go. At least 12 people were killed and 31 wounded, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. By the afternoon (GMT), the confirmed death toll had risen to 12.
Al Jazeera correspondent Heidi Pett from Beirut: “Witnesses in Ramlet al-Baida say they were sleeping in their tents when the roar of the jets woke them. Then there was an impact and they popped their heads out of their tents in time to see the second one.”
Pett described this as another Israeli attempted assassination strike, “notably in areas outside those traditionally targeted, and beyond the zones where Israel has issued evacuation orders.”
A displaced man from Aana, injured and bandaged at the scene: “It was horrible, we saw a little girl thrown into the air.” Another: “Whenever Israel takes hits, it lashes out at civilians.”
The Israeli military said it was “not aware” of a strike at that location — an extraordinary statement given that Reuters, AFP, and Al Jazeera correspondents were all present at the scene with photographic evidence. The strike came without any evacuation warning.
L’Orient Today reporters confirmed that an unexploded Israeli missile remained on site as army personnel swept the area. A displaced mother at the scene: “Even schools won’t let us change clothes — the reception is catastrophic.”
🔴 #2 — BASHOURA STRUCK: FOURTH CENTRAL BEIRUT DISTRICT HIT — 1KM FROM PARLIAMENT, UN, EMBASSIES
[Al Jazeera / AFP / France24 / L’Orient Today — confirmed today]
The Israeli military struck a building in Bashoura, a busy residential and commercial district in the heart of central Beirut — the fourth distinct central Beirut neighbourhood struck since March 8. The strike is less than one kilometre from Martyrs’ Square, Lebanon’s Parliament, the Grand Serail (seat of the Lebanese government), UN offices, and international embassies.
Before striking, Israel issued an evacuation order. It then struck the building twice. AFPTV footage showed enormous black smoke rising above Bashoura. The area is adjacent to central Beirut’s commercial hub, newly opened restaurants and bars, and Saint Joseph University.
Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr called the targeting of central Beirut an “escalation.” A separate evacuation order was also issued for a building in Zuqaq al-Blat — another central Beirut district adjacent to Al-Qard Al-Hassan’s financial infrastructure — making this the second central Beirut warning in the same hour.
The cumulative geography of strikes on Beirut is now undeniable:
- Dahiyeh (South Beirut): ongoing since March 2
- Raouche (Central-West): Ramada Hotel, March 8
- Aicha Bakkar (Central-West): March 10–11
- Ramlet al-Baida (Seafront): March 12 (3am massacre)
- Bashoura (Central): March 12
- Zuqaq al-Blat (Central): evacuation order March 12
No neighbourhood of Beirut can now be considered safe.
🔴 #3 — LEBANESE UNIVERSITY STRUCK: TWO ACADEMICS KILLED — DR. HUSSEIN BAZZI AND DR. MURTADA SROUR
[NNA / L’Orient Today / The Canary — confirmed today]
An Israeli drone strike on a building of the Lebanese University in Hadath — Lebanon’s only public university and national institution of higher learning — killed Dr. Hussein Bazzi, head of the Faculty of Science, and Dr. Murtada Srour, a professor. NNA confirmed both deaths. This strike represents a new category of target: Lebanese state educational infrastructure. The Lebanese University serves hundreds of thousands of students from across Lebanon’s socioeconomic spectrum and is not associated with Hezbollah military operations. The killing of the Faculty of Science director has been widely described as an attack on Lebanon’s intellectual and academic future.
🔴 #4 — SHAATH (BAALBEK DISTRICT): 8–9 MEMBERS OF AL-TAHAN FAMILY KILLED IN SINGLE STRIKE
[L’Orient Today / NNA — confirmed today]
An Israeli airstrike near the entrance of Shaath in the western Bekaa Valley (Baalbek-Hermel district) struck a home belonging to the al-Tahan family — killing at least 8, with L’Orient Today’s correspondent confirming 9, including multiple generations. Baalbek Hospital issued an emergency appeal for blood donations of all types following the strike. This follows the March 7 Nabi Sheet massacre (41 killed) and March 11 Tamnin al-Tahta strike (7 killed) — the Baalbek district has now suffered three distinct mass-casualty events in five days.
🔴 #5 — BURJ SHAMALI (TYRE DISTRICT): MOTHER AND THREE SONS KILLED IN ONE FAMILY
[Al Jazeera / Lebanese MoPH — confirmed today]
An Israeli airstrike on Burj Shamali, in the Tyre district of south Lebanon, killed a mother and her three sons — an entire family unit wiped out in a single strike. Burj Shamali is a Palestinian refugee camp and residential area. This adds to the cumulative toll of family massacres in the Tyre district that began with the first direct Tyre strikes on March 10.
🔴 #6 — ARAMOUN (SOUTH OF BEIRUT): 5 KILLED, CHILD WOUNDED
[Lebanese MoPH — confirmed today]
Israeli strikes on Aramoun, a residential town in the hills approximately 10 kilometres south of Beirut in the Aley district, killed 5 people and wounded a child. Aramoun is not typically associated with Hezbollah military infrastructure and represents continued geographic expansion of strikes into the Mount Lebanon governorate area south of the capital.
🔴 #7 — ZAHRANI RIVER SWEEPING EVACUATION ORDER: LARGEST SINGLE DISPLACEMENT ORDER OF THE WAR
[IDF / Irish Times / Bloomberg / L’Orient Today — confirmed today]
In the largest single geographic displacement order issued since the war began, the Israeli military today ordered all residents living south of the Zahrani River to “move north for their safety” — before immediately launching a bombardment of what it described as Hezbollah targets in the area. The Zahrani River at its midpoint is approximately 40 kilometres (25 miles) north of the Israel-Lebanon border, encompassing the entire governorate of Nabatieh and dozens of additional villages.
This order covers: all Nabatieh district communities, Tyre district (already under orders), and extends to the Zahrani crossing area near Sidon. Israeli Defense Minister Katz confirmed separately that the IDF has been instructed to prepare for “expanding IDF operations in Lebanon” — a formal signal that the ground offensive is moving north of the Litani River.
🔴 #8 — KATZ: “WE WILL TAKE THE TERRITORY AND DO IT OURSELVES” — FULL-SCALE GROUND OFFENSIVE PREPARED
[Times of Israel / JNS / Al Arabiya / France24 — confirmed today]
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued Lebanon’s most direct territorial ultimatum since the war began: “I warned the President of Lebanon that if the Lebanese government does not know how to control the territory and prevent Hezbollah from threatening the northern communities and firing at Israel — we will take the territory and do it ourselves.“
Katz confirmed that he and Prime Minister Netanyahu have “instructed the IDF to prepare for an expansion of IDF activity in Lebanon and to restore calm and security to the northern communities.” He added: “We promised quiet and security to the northern communities, and that is exactly what we will do.”
The IDF Chief of Staff separately stated the war on Hezbollah “will not be short” and that more troops are being sent north. The combined picture — Zahrani River evacuation order, Golani Brigade redeployment (confirmed yesterday), Katz ultimatum, and IDF Chief of Staff statement — constitutes the most unambiguous formal preparation for a full-scale ground offensive into Lebanon since the war began.
Lebanese President Aoun has accused Hezbollah and Iran of working to “collapse” the Lebanese state and expressed openness to direct negotiations with Israel. Lebanon has offered direct talks. The US and Israel have rebuffed this offer, preferring to allow the IDF to attempt to militarily defeat Hezbollah.
🔴 #9 — HEZBOLLAH LAUNCHES 200-ROCKET BARRAGE — LARGEST OF THE WAR; COORDINATED WITH IRAN
[IDF / Al Jazeera / PBS / Times of Israel — confirmed today]
In a coordinated operation with Iran’s IRGC, Hezbollah overnight (Wednesday into Thursday) launched approximately 200 rockets at northern Israel — the group’s largest single rocket operation since the war began. The IRGC confirmed this was a “combined assault.” Simultaneously, Iran launched multiple waves of ballistic missiles at Israel — sirens were activated in Tel Aviv, northern Israel, Haifa Bay, and parts of the West Bank.
Confirmed Hezbollah targets in the operation:
- 100-rocket salvo into northern Israel (evening of March 11)
- Drone attack on Ya’ara barracks (northern Israel)
- Missile attack on Beit Lid base (central Israel)
- Missile attack on Glilot intelligence base (suburb of Tel Aviv)
- Missile attack on Atlit naval base (near Haifa)
- Drone targeting Meron Air Operations Command and Control Base — Hezbollah claims radar damage
- Caesarea air defense systems targeted — adjacent to Netanyahu’s private residence
An Israeli resident near the Lebanese border, Naama Porat: “The noise was extraordinary, it was really scary. I dashed with my son to a shelter and spent the night there.”
IDF Chief of Staff Zamir apologised for not warning the public ahead of the barrage. He said: “Yesterday, an intelligence warning emerged. Following it, we prepared for incoming fire, carried out strikes, disrupted Hezbollah’s intentions, reinforced the air defenses, and thwarted most of the threat. Most of the launchers were neutralized within minutes.” He acknowledged: “Yesterday evening, a sense of lack of clarity arose among the public regarding the defensive guidelines.”
🔴 #10 — ABU ALI RIYAN, RADWAN FORCE COMMANDER, AND IRGC IMAM HUSSEIN DIVISION COMMANDERS KILLED
[IDF / Haaretz / Ynetnews — confirmed today]
Two major targeted assassinations confirmed today:
Abu Ali Riyan — Commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in southern Lebanon — was killed in an Israeli strike. The IDF described him as “the central figure responsible for coordinating operations, recruiting operatives and managing the weapons supply chain” of the Radwan Unit. The IDF stated that over 100 terrorists have been killed and more than 60 Radwan Force command centres destroyed since the war began.
IRGC Imam Hussein Division: The commander, identified as Abu Ali Rida (also rendered Ali Musallam Tabaja), and his deputy Jihad al-Safira, plus the division’s UAV officer Sager al-Handasa and other senior commanders were killed overnight in a Lebanon strike. The IDF described the Imam Hussein Division as an Iranian IRGC division whose role is “to attack Israel from Lebanese territory.”
Also confirmed today (from March 10 strike): Abu Dharr Mohammadi, an IRGC commander and central liaison between Hezbollah and the Iranian government, killed in Beirut. The IDF described him as playing a “major role in building Hezbollah’s missile capabilities.”
🔴 #11 — MOJTABA KHAMENEI BREAKS SILENCE: “ALL US BASES WILL BE ATTACKED; HORMUZ TO STAY CLOSED”
[AFP / PBS / Decatur Daily / Times of Israel — confirmed today]
Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued his first public statement since being appointed — 13 days after his father was killed and he was wounded. He did not appear on video; a written statement was televised in Tehran. Key content:
- All US military bases in the Middle East “will be attacked” unless they are closed
- Called on Gulf Arab states to “shut down” all US bases in their countries, saying US protection was “nothing more than a lie”
- Vowed to continue Iran’s attacks — in line with his father’s strategy
- Warned of “opening other fronts” if the war continues
- Called for continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz as strategic leverage
The statement confirms IRGC control of Iran’s war strategy and removes any ambiguity about Tehran’s intentions. Iran has also set three conditions for a ceasefire, according to mediators: US guarantees of no future attacks, lifting of all sanctions, and return to the nuclear deal framework.
🔴 #12 — UN: “PERFECT STORM / FULL-BLOWN HUMANITARIAN CATASTROPHE” — FLASH APPEAL FRIDAY
[UN News / UNHCR / IRC — confirmed today]
UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon Imran Riza issued Lebanon’s most severe humanitarian assessment of the war. His interview with UN News was briefly interrupted by explosions — he then continued speaking. Key confirmed statements:
- Lebanon is facing a “perfect storm of unpredictable challenges” — conflict, mass displacement, and collapsing humanitarian resources simultaneously
- He described the situation as a “full-blown humanitarian catastrophe”
- 815,000 people have been displaced — the UNHCR’s highest confirmed figure today
- 90% of government shelters are full — families who cannot enter shelters are sleeping on the Corniche, in cars, in tents on the seafront
- 30,000+ people have crossed from Lebanon into Syria
- Those displaced now “have nowhere to go back to” — homes in south Lebanon and Dahiyeh have been destroyed
- Gulf state humanitarian support — which was substantial in 2024 — is not available this time, as Gulf states are themselves under Iranian attack
- The humanitarian response is “broader than 2024, while Lebanon is in a weaker position”
- UN agencies are repurposing existing funds and a UN Flash Appeal will be launched Friday (March 13) to mobilise emergency funding
Separately, the UN Emergency Relief Chief described the war as costing $1 billion per day.
🔴 #13 — ISRAEL STRIKES IRAN NUCLEAR FACILITY TALEQAN
[Haaretz / IDF — confirmed today]
The IDF confirmed it has struck an Iranian nuclear facility at Taleqan, described as being used for nuclear development — a facility that Israel had previously destroyed in an airstrike in October 2024, but which satellite photography earlier in 2026 showed had been rebuilt. The IDF stated the operation aimed to cause “deep and sustained damage to the foundations of Iran’s nuclear programme.” This is a significant escalation of the Iran front that adds to the Lebanon pressure — any Iranian escalatory response targeting Israel or US assets increases the risk of further Lebanese collateral impact.
🔴 #14 — UNIVERSITY ACADEMICS, FARMERS, AND RED CROSS VOLUNTEER: THE CIVILIAN TOLL DEEPENS
[L’Orient Today / Democracy Now / NNA — confirmed today]
Three representative civilian deaths confirmed today and yesterday that illustrate the breadth of the human catastrophe:
- Dr. Hussein Bazzi and Dr. Murtada Srour — academics at Lebanese University, Hadath, killed by Israeli drone strike today
- Youssef Assaf — Lebanese Red Cross volunteer, killed while attempting to evacuate wounded in south Lebanon. His colleague described the scene: “We were present in an area trying to evacuate wounded people, and a bomb fell among them. Two of our young men were targeted.”
- Eight farmers in Haris (Bint Jbeil district) — killed in a strike; three of the victims had already been displaced from Maroun al-Ras and had returned to their fields
The killing of a Red Cross volunteer during a rescue operation and academics at a public university represent potential additional violations of international humanitarian law.
🔴 #15 — REGIONAL AND GLOBAL ESCALATION: TANKERS HIT IN IRAQ; GULF OFFICES EVACUATED
[Al Jazeera / UK MTMO / Reuters — confirmed today and yesterday]
The broader regional picture continues to deteriorate:
- Two cargo ships hit near Dubai and in the Strait of Hormuz by “unknown projectiles” — confirmed by the UK Maritime Trade Operations
- Oil tankers engulfed in flames in Iraqi waters — confirmed by Times of Israel liveblog headline
- Doha, Qatar: Sirens activated following Iranian missile launches. Qatar’s defense ministry confirmed intercepting two ballistic missiles, one cruise missile, and multiple drones.
- Abu Dhabi: State oil company forced to shut down refinery following drone attack (March 11-12 timeframe)
- Citi evacuated its Dubai finance-centre office
- PwC closed offices in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and Kuwait
- Ukrainian anti-drone teams are now operating in Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia — confirmed by President Zelenskyy
- KLM and British Airways have cancelled Dubai flights
- USS Gerald R. Ford suffered a non-combat fire onboard — two sailors injured, both stable
- IDF drone strikes on Basij in Tehran — confirmed, with footage published; Basij had established checkpoints across Tehran
- Iran: 3.2 million internally displaced within Iran itself — UNHCR confirmed today
- Israel strikes Glilot intelligence base suburb — Israel’s primary SIGINT/cyberwarfare hub near Tel Aviv
🌡️ GOVERNORATE-BY-GOVERNORATE SECURITY INDEX — MARCH 12, 2026
🏙️ BEIRUT
Index: 100/100 🔴🔴 | Status: ACTIVE MASS-CASUALTY STRIKES — NO SAFE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Beirut has entered a new and irreversible phase of the conflict. Today marks the crossing of the final psychological threshold: the heart of the capital — adjacent to Parliament, the government, the UN, and all embassies — has been struck. The five confirmed strike zones now are:
- Dahiyeh (South Beirut): Ongoing mass strikes since March 2. Radwan Force HQ destroyed. Al-Qard Al-Hassan targeted. Dozens of buildings destroyed.
- Raouche (Central-West): Ramada Hotel, March 8 — 5 IRGC commanders + 4 Iranian diplomats killed.
- Aicha Bakkar (Central-West): March 10–11 — apartments destroyed, 4 wounded.
- Ramlet al-Baida (Seafront/Corniche): March 12, 3am — displaced families in tents. 12 killed, 31 wounded. Double-tap drone strike. No warning.
- Bashoura (Central Beirut): March 12 — struck with prior evacuation order. Less than 1km from Parliament, UN, international embassies.
- Zuqaq al-Blat (Central Beirut): Evacuation order issued March 12 — adjacent to Bashoura.
In addition: Lebanese University in Hadath (near Beirut) struck — two academics killed.
Assessment: There is no residential, commercial, academic, or civic neighbourhood of Beirut that can now be considered safe. The Ramlet al-Baida double-tap at 3am — targeting families in tents on the Corniche with no warning — represents the most operationally indiscriminate strike of the war. Anyone remaining in Beirut must treat their current location as a potential target.
🏞️ MOUNT LEBANON
Index: 90/100 🔴🔴 | Trend: ⬆️ — ARAMOUN STRUCK; DISPLACEMENT CATASTROPHE
Aramoun (Aley district, Mount Lebanon) was struck today — 5 killed, a child wounded. This is the first confirmed strike in the Mount Lebanon governorate proper, outside of the Dahiyeh-adjacent areas. With 815,000 displaced and shelters at 90% capacity, Mount Lebanon is now simultaneously a strike zone and a displacement reception zone at the point of complete collapse. The Damascus-Beirut highway corridor — overlooked by IDF forces on Mount Hermon — remains an active risk for all overland movement.
🌊 NORTH LEBANON & TRIPOLI
Index: 85/100 🔴 | Trend: Elevated — Final Refuge Under Pressure
Tripoli has been confirmed struck earlier in the conflict. With the Zahrani River evacuation order now pushing hundreds of thousands further north, Tripoli and the north face a displacement surge that their infrastructure cannot absorb. No direct new strikes on Tripoli today confirmed — but the city is now the de facto terminal point of Lebanon’s displacement wave.
🌲 AKKAR
Index: 85/100 🔴 | Trend: Elevated
No new direct strikes confirmed today. Displacement surge continuing through and past Akkar. Lebanon-Syria border tensions from Hezbollah cross-border shelling incident (March 10) and IDF presence on Mount Hermon remain active risk factors.
🍇 BEQAA VALLEY
Index: 98/100 🔴🔴 | Trend: 🚨 MAXIMUM — AL-TAHAN FAMILY MASSACRE TODAY; ONGOING ACTIVE STRIKES
Shaath (Baalbek district) struck today — 8–9 members of the al-Tahan family killed in their home. This is the third mass-casualty event in the Baalbek district in five days: Nabi Sheet (41 killed, March 7), Tamnin al-Tahta (7 killed, March 11), and now Shaath. The IDF also struck Qsarnaba (~20km from Baalbek) after issuing an evacuation order. The Zahrani River order does not cover the Bekaa directly but the overall expansion of the ground offensive area makes the Bekaa the next logical phase of IDF ground operations.
DO NOT ENTER THE BEKAA VALLEY.
🏛️ BAALBEK-HERMEL
Index: 99/100 🔴🔴 | Status: MAXIMUM DANGER — ONGOING MASSACRES
Three mass-casualty events in Baalbek-Hermel in five days. Israel struck the Taleqan nuclear facility in Iran today, confirming that Iran-facing military operations are intensifying — which directly increases pressure on Hezbollah’s Hermel supply corridor to Iran. The IDF’s ground forces on Mount Hermon remain positioned overlooking this corridor. Hezbollah’s Radwan Force commander was killed today. The elimination of Radwan command infrastructure across south Lebanon may cause Hezbollah to reposition forces toward the Bekaa.
DO NOT TRAVEL TO BAALBEK-HERMEL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
🌴 SOUTH LEBANON
Index: 100/100 🔴🔴 | Status: TOTAL WAR ZONE — ZAHRANI ORDER NOW IN EFFECT
Today’s Zahrani River evacuation order is the most consequential single military order affecting south Lebanon since the war began. It formally extends the mandatory evacuation zone to 40+ kilometres north of the Israeli border — encompassing the entirety of south Lebanon and Nabatieh governorate. Combined with active IDF ground operations (three divisions plus incoming Golani Brigade), ongoing airstrikes, drone operations, and artillery, there is no civilian zone remaining in south Lebanon.
Key confirmed strikes today outside Beirut:
- Burj Shamali (Tyre): Mother + 3 sons killed
- Deir Antar (Bint Jbeil): 2 killed, 6 wounded
- Maarakah-Tyre intersection: 2 killed in 4-storey building
- Haris (Bint Jbeil): 8 farmers killed (3 previously displaced from Maroun al-Ras)
- Khiam, Taybeh (Marjayoun), Adsheet (Nabatieh), Haniyah (Sour): all struck with new airstrikes today
- Qleileh plain, Wadi Aazzieh (Sour), Aitaroun (Bint Jbeil): continuous artillery
DO NOT ENTER SOUTH LEBANON. EVERYTHING SOUTH OF THE ZAHRANI RIVER IS NOW UNDER EVACUATION ORDER.
⛪ NABATIEH
Index: 100/100 🔴🔴 | Status: MAXIMUM DANGER — ENTIRE GOVERNORATE UNDER EVACUATION ORDER
The Zahrani River order covers Nabatieh governorate in its entirety. The IDF has prepared to expand operations north of the Litani — Nabatieh is the next phase of the ground campaign. Confirmed strikes today in Kfour (Nabatieh), Adsheet (Nabatieh), and ongoing ground clashes throughout all three districts.
DO NOT ENTER NABATIEH GOVERNORATE. EVACUATION ORDER NOW IN EFFECT.

⚠️ DIPLOMATIC STATUS — MARCH 12
Key diplomatic developments today:
- Lebanon offers direct negotiations with Israel — President Aoun accused Hezbollah/Iran of trying to “collapse” the Lebanese state. Lebanon has formally offered direct talks. The US and Israel have rejected this offer — preferring military degradation of Hezbollah.
- Iran sets three ceasefire conditions — US guarantees of no future attacks; lifting of all sanctions; return to nuclear deal framework. These are non-starters for the current US administration.
- Mojtaba Khamenei’s first statement effectively ends any hope of near-term diplomacy — he has doubled down on his father’s strategy and threatened new fronts.
- Katz ultimatum — Israel has formally stated it will seize Lebanese territory if Lebanon cannot disarm Hezbollah. This is no longer a threat; it is the stated operational plan.
- UN Flash Appeal Friday — UN mobilising emergency funding but humanitarian assistance “cannot resolve the crisis” — only a ceasefire can.
Assessment: The diplomatic picture has sharply worsened in the last 24 hours. Lebanon’s offer of direct talks has been rebuffed. Iran’s new leader is escalating. Israel has formally committed to expanding ground operations. The three-week Israeli military timeline cited last week ends approximately March 21–28. We are now in the critical acceleration window. No ceasefire is remotely imminent.

BEIRUT — ALL AREAS: The Ramlet al-Baida massacre has confirmed the final threshold: nowhere in Beirut is safe. Displaced families sleeping on the Corniche — Lebanon’s last perceived safety zone — were struck without warning at 3am. Bashoura — 1km from the Lebanese Parliament — has been struck. Anyone remaining in Beirut must:
- Avoid any building with known or suspected IRGC, Hezbollah, or Iranian-linked guests or operations
- Treat any building receiving displaced persons from the south as a potential target under new Israeli targeting patterns
- Be prepared to leave immediately on any available transport
- The airport remains open — depart now.
SOUTH OF ZAHRANI RIVER — ENTIRE ZONE: This is now an active mandatory evacuation zone. Do not remain anywhere south of the Zahrani River. IDF ground offensive expansion is formally being prepared. Move immediately to Beirut northern districts, Jounieh, Jbeil, or Tripoli.
BEKAA AND BAALBEK-HERMEL: Ongoing massacre-level strikes. Al-Tahan family killed in Shaath today. IDF on Mount Hermon. Do not remain. Move northwest toward Zahle (with caution) or north.
MOUNT LEBANON (Aley/Aramoun area): Now struck. Reassess position if in southern Mount Lebanon communities. Move further north.
FOREIGN NATIONALS: Your embassy may be within 1km of a strike zone (Bashoura). Contact your embassy for updated guidance. Do not assume embassy proximity provides safety.
AMERICAN CITIZENS: US Embassy emergency alerts remain active. MEA flights operating from Rafic Hariri Airport. Call State Department: +1-202-501-4444. Act today.

⚠️ FINAL ASSESSMENT — MARCH 12, 2026
Today Lebanon crossed the point of no return.
In the last 24 hours since our last edition:
- Death toll rose from 570 to 687 — a 20% increase in a single day
- Displaced rose from 700,000 to 815,000 — an increase of 115,000 in 24 hours
- Bashoura — the heart of central Beirut, 1km from Parliament — was struck for the first time
- Ramlet al-Baida — families sleeping in tents on the Corniche — struck at 3am without warning: 12 dead, 31 wounded
- Lebanese University attacked — two academics killed
- Mount Lebanon struck for the first time (Aramoun)
- The Zahrani River evacuation order has extended mandatory displacement to 40km north of the border — the largest single displacement order of the war
- Israel has formally stated it will “take the territory” and expand ground operations
- Hezbollah launched its largest rocket barrage of the war (200 rockets)
- Mojtaba Khamenei broke his silence with an escalatory statement threatening new fronts
- 90% of Lebanon’s government shelters are full
- The UN has declared a “full-blown humanitarian catastrophe” and is launching a flash appeal Friday
CIS Security’s assessment: The five confirmed strike zones in Beirut, the Zahrani River order, the Katz ultimatum, and the Golani Brigade redeployment collectively represent the clearest signal yet that a full-scale IDF ground offensive into Lebanon — potentially reaching the Litani and beyond — is days away, not weeks. The UN Flash Appeal on Friday will mobilise some emergency funds but cannot substitute for a ceasefire. There is no ceasefire in the next 24–48 hours. Every Lebanese resident, foreign national, and expatriate remaining in Lebanon should treat today as the last day of manageable evacuation conditions. Airport access may not remain guaranteed if the ground offensive escalates further north.
The defining benchmark of today: displaced families sleeping in tents on Beirut’s seafront — with nowhere else to go, already having fled their destroyed homes — were struck by a double-tap drone strike at 3am without warning. A little girl was thrown into the air. This is Lebanon on March 12, 2026.
