Feb 20: Israeli airstrikes in the Baalbek area killed ten people, including eight Hezbollah members and injured 24 others. Three of the dead were identified as local Hezbollah commanders. Al Jazeera
Feb 21: Arab media reported that IRGC officers took responsibility for supervising Hezbollah’s activities, increasing its military preparedness in anticipation of an Israeli or American attack. Al Jazeera
Feb 26: After Hezbollah shot down a Hermes 450 drone with a surface-to-air missile, Israel launched its first attacks into eastern Lebanon since the conflict began, targeting Hezbollah air defense sites near Baalbek. Hezbollah fired 60 Katyusha rockets at an IDF headquarters in response. Al Jazeera
Feb 28 — THE PIVOTAL DAY: Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the first wave of US-Israeli strikes. Iran will hold a three-day state funeral. Al Jazeera The regional war began.
March 1: Hezbollah fired several rockets at northern Israel, setting off sirens in Haifa and the Upper Galilee. The group said its actions were in response to the assassination of Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei. Airstrikes resumed between Hezbollah and Israel. Al Jazeera Israeli airstrikes resulted in the killing of at least 31 people and the wounding of 149. Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said that the launch of projectiles toward Israel was “an irresponsible and suspicious act that jeopardises Lebanon’s security and safety.” Al Jazeera
March 2: Lebanon’s Cabinet declared Hezbollah’s military activities illegal and demanded the immediate handover of its weapons — described by political parties as “the boldest measures taken against Hezbollah to date.” Al Jazeera

🔴 BREAKING #1 — COMFORT HOTEL BOMBED IN HAZMIEH — NEAR PRESIDENTIAL PALACE
An air strike hit a hotel in Hazmieh — the first reported Israeli attack on the predominantly Christian area in Beirut’s suburbs, near the presidential palace and several foreign embassies. Some rooms were gutted in the strike, while wounded people received treatment in the lobby. People fled through debris carrying suitcases past the Comfort Hotel’s sign, which had fallen broken to the ground. It was not possible to determine who was targeted in the attack. Al Jazeera
Al Jazeera’s Heidi Pett said the attack happened without any warning, indicating that it could have been an attempted assassination. “The Israeli military is yet to say exactly who or what it was attempting to target.” Al Jazeera
🔴 BREAKING #2 — BAALBEK RESIDENTIAL BUILDING DESTROYED — 5-6 KILLED, 15 WOUNDED
There was an overnight strike on a four-storey residential building in the eastern city of Baalbek. The attack killed at least six people and wounded 15. Rescue teams said two people were missing. ABC News
🔴 BREAKING #3 — ARAMOUN AND SAADIYAT (MOUNT LEBANON) STRUCK — 6 KILLED
In Aramoun and Saadiyat south of Beirut — two towns outside the traditional strongholds of Hezbollah — the health ministry said Israeli strikes killed six people and wounded eight. Al Jazeera This is the first Israeli attack on these mixed community suburbs, signalling a widening of targeting beyond historically Shi’ite areas.
🔴 BREAKING #4 — TOTAL EVACUATION ORDER: ALL OF SOUTH LEBANON + HARET HREIK + 29+ TOWNS
The Israeli military’s Arabic-language spokesperson issued new forced displacement orders for residents of the Haret Hreik neighbourhood in Beirut’s southern suburbs, releasing a map of the Lebanese capital with buildings marked in red and warning people to flee, claiming it was “affiliated with Hezbollah.” The Israeli military also issued an “urgent warning” calling on people to leave 16 towns in southern Lebanon, later calling on residents in an additional 13 towns to evacuate. Israel has begun a “wave of strikes” in southern Lebanon, hours after it ordered all residents south of the Litani river to leave their homes immediately. Lebanese state media reported that the Israeli army had entered the southern Lebanese town of Khiam, about six kilometres from the border, marking its deepest entry since the fighting broke out. Hezbollah said it targeted a military base near Tel Aviv with a drone swarm, and a naval base in Haifa. The Israeli military said anti-tank fire in south Lebanon also injured two of its soldiers. Al Jazeera
🔴 BREAKING #7 — LEBANESE ARMY: 27 ARRESTS OF HEZBOLLAH AND ARMED ACTORS — HISTORIC FIRST
The Lebanese Armed Forces announced 27 arrests and “exceptional security measures” to curb armed displays amid heightened tensions. A senior judicial official acknowledged implementation would be gradual “because we don’t have full control.” “Does it mean we can arrest all of them? No. It will be progressive.” The Lebanese Army had also withdrawn from several positions along the southern border after Israel said its troops were authorised to advance and seize Lebanese territory. Hezbollah raised the stakes for the Lebanese government when it launched an attack on Israel’s Ramat Airbase and a barrage of rockets at a military facility in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights — a day after PM Salam’s cabinet announced a ban on Hezbollah’s military and security activities. World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said three paramedics were killed and six injured “while recovering people injured by explosions” in Lebanon’s southern Tyre district. “Warring parties must abide by international humanitarian law and protect health workers, facilities and patients.” Al Jazeera

Lebanon and France postponed the upcoming conference to support the Lebanese army, with their joint statement saying “the conditions were not met to hold the meeting on the scheduled date.” The decision came after the United States and Israel began strikes against Iran on Saturday, sparking swift retaliation from the Islamic Republic. At least 74 people have been killed in Lebanon and more than 437 people have been injured since Israeli forces launched attacks on Monday, the country’s Ministry of Public Health said Wednesday. The US has closed embassies in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Lebanon after several were hit with Iranian strikes. Al Jazeera

The number of people killed in five days of US-Israeli attacks against Iran has topped 1,000, state media says. UN News
