⛔ ACTIVE WAR — DAY 19 OF THE IRAN WAR

INDEX LEVEL: 🔴🔴 CATASTROPHIC | OVERALL INDEX: 99/100 TREND: ⬆️ MAXIMUM — THREE IRANIAN LEADERS KILLED IN 48 HRS; BASHOURA DEMOLISHED; ENERGY WAR ESCALATING; AIRLINE WINDOW CLOSING

⛔ EMERGENCY STATUS PREAMBLE

THIS IS DAY 19 OF THE US-ISRAELI WAR ON IRAN. LEBANON IS EXPERIENCING ITS MOST INTENSE BOMBARDMENT SINCE THE WAR BEGAN.

Since our last full edition (March 17), the war has entered a new and qualitatively more dangerous phase across every dimension simultaneously. In Lebanon: Israel struck the heart of Beirut’s Bashoura neighbourhood overnight, completely demolishing a 15-storey building. Strikes killed more than 20 people across Lebanon — 6 in Beirut (Bashoura; Zuqaq al-Blat), 2 in Sidon (including a paramedic), 4 in Sahmar/Bekaa Valley, and throughout south Lebanon. The Al-Manar TV political director and his wife were killed in central Beirut. The death toll has risen to 968, with 2,432 wounded, and over one million people remain officially displaced.

On the strategic decapitation front: Israel killed three senior Iranian leaders in 48 hours — Ali Larijani (March 17), Gholamreza Soleimani/Basij commander (March 17), and Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib (March 18 overnight). Iran’s President Pezeshkian confirmed all three. Mojtaba Khamenei warned publicly that “criminals will pay soon.” Iran’s civilian political leadership has now been almost entirely eliminated — the IRGC alone runs the war.

On the energy front: Israel struck Iran’s South Pars gas field — the world’s largest — triggering an oil price surge. Iran retaliated by striking Ras Laffan LNG in Qatar. Qatar closed its airspace. Trump threatened to “massively blow up the entirety” of South Pars if Iran attacks Qatar again. The US deployed 5,000-pound bunker-buster munitions on hardened Iranian missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM has now struck 7,800+ targets and damaged or destroyed 120+ Iranian vessels.

RAFIC HARIRI AIRPORT: Qatar Airways SUSPENDED (March 18–28). Turkish Airlines CANCELLED Lebanon flights (until March 19 — verify). Airport physically operating but connectivity degrading rapidly. DEPART TODAY.

🚨 ALL BREAKING DEVELOPMENTS — WEDNESDAY MARCH 18, 2026

🔴 #1 — DEATH TOLL 968; 2,432 WOUNDED; ONE MILLION+ DISPLACED

[Lebanese Ministry of Public Health / Norwegian Refugee Council / CARE — confirmed today]

Israel has killed 968 people in Lebanon and injured 2,432 since the war started. The Norwegian Refugee Council confirmed that one million people in Lebanon have now been displaced — about a sixth of the country’s entire population. CARE’s Country Director described this as “one of the most sudden and large-scale waves of displacement in the country’s history,” noting that by comparison the previous war displaced 760,000 people over three months. This displacement has occurred in two weeks. By March 18, 119,000 Syrians alone had crossed from Lebanon into Syria, per the UN Displacement Tracking Matrix.

🔴 #2 — BASHOURA, CENTRAL BEIRUT: 15-STOREY BUILDING COMPLETELY DEMOLISHED; 6 KILLED

[Al Jazeera / AP/Hussein Malla / NNA / AFP/Ibrahim Amro — confirmed today]

Israel attacked a building in Bashoura — a neighbourhood in the heart of Beirut — with a blast and smoke rising over the area shortly after Israel issued a forced evacuation order for the site. At least six people were killed in Beirut strikes today, with dozens injured. Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr, speaking from in front of the demolished building, said its lower floors had been bombed a week earlier but that in the early hours the structure was completely demolished, with the Israeli army claiming Hezbollah had stored cash there: “You can see the widespread damage across this whole neighbourhood.”

Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar TV confirmed that its director of political programmes Mohammad Shari and his wife were killed in the strike on Zuqaq al-Blat in central Beirut, with their children and grandchildren wounded and hospitalised. The complete overnight demolition of the 15-storey structure — photographed by AP’s Hussein Malla and AFP’s Ibrahim Amro — represents the single most dramatic structural destruction event in Beirut since the war began.

🔴 #3 — ESMAEIL KHATIB KILLED — THIRD SENIOR IRANIAN LEADER ASSASSINATED IN 48 HOURS

[IDF / Iranian President Pezeshkian / Al Jazeera / AP — confirmed today]

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed that Israel killed Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib in an overnight attack, marking the third assassination of a high-ranking Iranian official in two days — following Ali Larijani and Gholamreza Soleimani on March 17. Pezeshkian wrote: “The cowardly assassination of my dear colleagues Esmaeil Khatib, Ali Larijani, and Aziz Nasirzadeh, alongside some of their family members and accompanying team, has left us in deep mourning.” Al Jazeera reported that Khatib was regarded as a trusted figure close to Mojtaba Khamenei, and that his killing “will cause a dent to the remaining structure of the regime.”

Full tally of Iranian command-level assassinations since February 28: Supreme Leader Khamenei; Armed Forces Chief Mousavi; Defence Minister Nasirzadeh; IRGC Commander Pakpour; Brigadier-General Jalali Nasab; SNSC Chief Larijani; Basij Commander Soleimani; Intelligence Minister Khatib. The IRGC operational core is now running the war alone.

🔴 #4 — MOJTABA KHAMENEI: “CRIMINALS WILL PAY SOON” — MAJOR RETALIATION THREATENED

[Mojtaba Khamenei / Iranian President / The Week — confirmed today]

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned of Tehran’s major retaliation: “Criminals have to pay soon for his blood,” he said specifically regarding Larijani’s death. Thousands of Iranians attended a funeral ceremony for Larijani, Soleimani, and 84 Iranian Navy personnel at Enghelab Square in Tehran. This is the most direct public retaliation threat from Khamenei since the war began.

🔴 #5 — SOUTH PARS GAS FIELD STRUCK; IRAN HITS RAS LAFFAN, QATAR; TRUMP THREATENS TOTAL DESTRUCTION

[CNN / NBC / Washington Post / Qatari Ministry of Defense — confirmed today]

Facilities associated with Iran’s massive offshore South Pars natural gas field — the world’s largest, supplying 80% of Iran’s domestic needs — came under attack at Asaluyeh, Bushehr Province. An Iranian missile hit the Ras Laffan gas facility in Qatar — five ballistic missiles confirmed by the Qatari Ministry of Defense. Trump claimed the US “knew nothing” about the South Pars strike — Axios confirmed he was briefed in advance — and threatened that if Iran attacks Qatar again, the US “will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field.” Iran warned that Gulf energy assets are now “legitimate targets.”

🔴 #6 — US DEPLOYS 5,000-POUND BUNKER-BUSTERS; CENTCOM: 7,800+ TARGETS, 120+ VESSELS DESTROYED

[CENTCOM / NBC — confirmed today]

US forces successfully deployed multiple 5,000-pound deep penetrator munitions on hardened Iranian missile sites along the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM confirmed it has struck more than 7,800 targets and damaged or destroyed more than 120 Iranian vessels since February 28.

🔴 #7 — SIDON: 2 KILLED INCLUDING PARAMEDIC; BEKAA/BAALBEK: 8 KILLED ACROSS TWO STRIKES

[Al Jazeera / NNA / Lebanese Health Ministry — confirmed today]

Two killed — one a paramedic — in an Israeli car strike on Sidon’s waterfront. Four killed in Sahmar, Bekaa Valley (four houses simultaneously targeted). Four killed and seven wounded in a residential building in Ras al-Ain/Baalbek — confirmed today. Tyre and Burj Shemali struck in predawn hours.

🔴 #8 — HEZBOLLAH: QASSEM ISSUES FOUR CEASEFIRE CONDITIONS

[Al Jazeera — confirmed today]

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem laid down four conditions for the war to end: Israel must stop all attacks; displaced people must be permitted to return; all persons detained by Israel over the last two years must be released; and the Israeli army must withdraw. These conditions are far beyond what Israel has indicated it would accept. Hezbollah’s aim, per Al Jazeera’s reporting, is not merely territorial control but preventing Israel from gaining new permanent positions in Lebanon.

🔴 #9 — FRANCE’S LE DRIAN: “UNREALISTIC” TO DEMAND DISARMAMENT UNDER FIRE; MERZ: OFFENSIVE AN “ERROR”

[Newsweek / France Info / CNN — confirmed today]

France’s special envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian said: “Israel occupied Lebanon for a very long time and failed to eradicate Hezbollah’s military capacity. Therefore, they cannot now ask the Lebanese government to do that job in three days under bombardment.” German Chancellor Merz, a staunch Israeli ally, warned that Israel’s ground offensive was an “error” risking a worse humanitarian situation. Macron called for a moratorium on strikes targeting civilian infrastructure.

🔴 #10 — 12 ARAB/ISLAMIC FOREIGN MINISTERS: DUAL CONDEMNATION OF IRAN AND ISRAEL ON LEBANON

[CNN — confirmed today]

The foreign ministers of 12 Arab and Islamic states called on Iran to “immediately halt its attacks” and simultaneously reaffirmed “support for the security, stability and territorial integrity of Lebanon” — effectively condemning both Iran’s Gulf attacks and Israel’s Lebanon operations.

🔴 #11 — QATAR AIRWAYS SUSPENDED; TURKISH AIRLINES CANCELS GULF AND LEVANT ROUTES

[Newsweek / Reuters — confirmed today]

Qatar Airways suspended scheduled operations due to Qatari airspace closure, with a revised limited schedule operating March 18–28. Turkish Airlines cancelled flights to Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain and Dammam until March 19, and to Iran until March 20. Wizz Air suspended Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Amman and Jeddah routes from mainland Europe until mid-September.

🔴 #12 — PENTAGON REQUESTS $200 BILLION+ WAR FUNDING FROM CONGRESS

[Washington Post / CNN — confirmed today]

The Pentagon asked the White House to approve a more than $200 billion request to Congress to fund the Iran war. House Speaker Johnson said the mission is “just about accomplished” and acknowledged that “this Strait of Hormuz thing is dragging it out a little bit.”

🔴 #13 — CIA DIRECTOR RATCLIFFE: IRAN MISSILE RANGE TOWARD US “IMPROVING”

[Newsweek / Senate Intelligence Committee — confirmed today]

CIA Director Ratcliffe told senators that Iran’s long-range missile capabilities are improving, that Tehran is “gaining experience” developing missiles with greater reach — “a serious concern for US national security.”

🔴 #14 — HEZBOLLAH BACKLASH DEEPENS; LEBANON BANS MEDIA FROM CALLING HEZBOLLAH “THE RESISTANCE”

[Washington Post / Wikipedia 2026 Lebanon War — confirmed today]

Hezbollah’s attacks have sparked anger even among its most loyal Shiite supporters. Lebanon’s Minister of Information Paul Morkos ordered all media — television, radio and the national news agency — to stop using the word “resistance” affiliated to Hezbollah. This is the most significant Lebanese government distancing action since the war began.

🔴 #15 — IRAQ’S KATAEB HEZBOLLAH PAUSES US EMBASSY BAGHDAD ATTACKS — 5 DAYS

[CNN — confirmed today]

Iraq’s Kataeb Hezbollah announced it was halting attacks on the US Embassy in Baghdad for five days, pending conditions — following two consecutive days of attacks on the Embassy complex. The pause is explicitly temporary.

⚠️ FINAL ASSESSMENT — MARCH 18, 2026

In the 24 hours since our last edition, Lebanon and the broader war crossed multiple new thresholds simultaneously: a 15-storey building in central Beirut demolished; three senior Iranian leaders killed in 48 hours — the most intensive leadership decapitation campaign of the war; Mojtaba Khamenei publicly threatened imminent major retaliation; Israel struck the world’s largest gas field; Iran retaliated against Qatar’s Ras Laffan LNG; Qatar closed its airspace and Qatar Airways suspended operations; the US deployed bunker-buster munitions against Hormuz missile sites; the Pentagon requested $200B+; the CIA confirmed Iran developing US-range missiles; Lebanon’s death toll approaching 1,000.

CIS Security’s assessment: The war has entered its most volatile and least predictable phase. The complete elimination of Iran’s civilian political leadership — leaving only the IRGC in command — removes the one element of Iran’s decision-making structure with the diplomatic sophistication to manage a negotiated exit.

Khamenei’s explicit retaliation warning, combined with Iran’s demonstrated willingness to strike Qatar’s LNG infrastructure, signals that the next Iranian action could target Gulf energy assets at a scale not previously attempted. In Beirut, the Bashoura demolition sets a new precedent: any building alleged to contain Hezbollah financial assets — including commercial and residential properties in the capital’s historic centre — is now within the IDF’s active targeting envelope. The airport window is the narrowest it has been. All clients must act on departure contingencies today. Tomorrow may be too late.
