ISRAEL ISSUES EVACUATION ORDERS FOR 15 TOWNS INCLUDING VILLAGES SURROUNDING NABATIEH CITY: Israel expanded its evacuation orders to 15 more towns and villages, this time including various towns and villages that surround the larger town of Nabatieh. The IDF’s evacuation warning included: Sammaaiyeh, Hanniyeh, Qlaileh, Wadi Jilou, Kniseh, Kafra, Majdal Zoun and Seddiqin — and per Al Jazeera, Jebchit, Toul, al-Samanieh, Sahel al-Hnieh, Qlailah, Wadi Jilo, al-Kanisa, Kafr Jouz and additional communities. This is the most expansive evacuation order batch of the entire ceasefire period, directly threatening Nabatieh city itself.
FUNERALS FOR THREE CIVIL DEFENCE WORKERS — TENSE ATMOSPHERE IN SOUR: The funerals of three rescuers killed Tuesday in a double strike on Majdal Zoun were held in a tense atmosphere in Sour. Families holding their portraits throw rice and cry out in grief. “They were not just colleagues. They were brothers, comrades,” one mourner shouted into the microphone. A cousin of Hussein Sati spoke about anger toward Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at the funerals. As the ambulances departed from the funeral, an airstrike hit Smaaiyeh — one of the eight localities threatened in a new forced evacuation order. Israel struck a village while a civil defence funeral was in progress.
OIL: $111/BARREL; UAE EXITS OPEC; TRUMP BRIEFED ON HYPERSONIC MISSILES AGAINST IRAN: Brent crude oil traded above $111 a barrel Tuesday — over 50% higher than its prewar price. The United Arab Emirates announced it will leave OPEC effective May 1, stripping the oil cartel of one of its largest producers. Trump is to be briefed by CENTCOM on new military options against Iran, including potential Middle East hypersonic missile deployment.

🚨 BREAKING DEVELOPMENTS — THURSDAY APRIL 30, 2026
🔴 #1 — 28 KILLED IN SOUTH LEBANON TODAY — BLOODIEST SINGLE DAY OF CEASEFIRE
[Al Jazeera — 2 days ago published April 30; NNA; Lebanese MoPH]
Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon have killed at least 28 people, according to the country’s National News Agency (NNA), despite a temporary United States-mediated “ceasefire”.
Town-by-town confirmed toll:
- Jebchit: 4 killed, 9 wounded — residential building destroyed. A separate attack killed four members of one family including a child.
- Toul: 4 killed (3 women), 13 wounded including 5 children and 4 women. A later attack on the same town killed 1 more, wounded 2.
- Harouf: 2 killed — house destroyed.
- Qana: 2 killed in Israeli air raid.
- Zibdine: 6 killed (CNN confirmed)
- Hamza neighbourhood (between Kfar Roummane and Nabatieh): residential building destroyed; casualties reported
In the past 24 hours, Israeli air attacks have killed more than 20 people, including members of two families, two Lebanese army soldiers, and three paramedics. More than 70 others, including children, were injured in the attacks.
🔴 #2 — IDF GOLANI BRIGADE SOLDIER KILLED IN QANTARA BY HEZBOLLAH DRONE
[Al Jazeera April 30; Wikipedia — 4 hours ago; CNN confirmed]
Israel’s military said one of its soldiers from the Golani Brigade was killed in southern Lebanon. The Times of Israel, citing the Israeli military, said the soldier was killed when Hezbollah launched several explosive-laden rockets at Israeli troop positions in the village of Qantara. It said another soldier was “moderately” wounded in the attack.
Two IDF soldiers were moderately wounded in a Hezbollah explosive drone attack in Bint Jbeil. The military says the pair, a female officer and a male non-commissioned officer, were taken to a hospital. Hezbollah took responsibility, claiming to have targeted two tanks in Bint Jbeil with explosive drones.
This brings IDF total killed in Lebanon to 18+. Hezbollah said in earlier statements that it carried out drone strikes on gatherings of Israeli soldiers in Taybeh and Qantara, claiming the attacks were in response to Israeli ceasefire violations.
🔴 #3 — LEBANESE SOLDIER KILLED IN HOME WITH FAMILY; SECOND SOLDIER KILLED THIS WEEK
[Wikipedia — 4 hours ago]
An Israeli airstrike killed a Lebanese soldier in his home, along with several members of his family. On 29 April, a Lebanese soldier travelling home on a motorcycle was killed by one of the Israeli strikes. Two Lebanese Army soldiers killed by Israeli strikes in two consecutive days. At least seven Lebanese army soldiers have been killed since the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel reignited on March 2. The targeting of Lebanese Army soldiers — not Hezbollah fighters — in their homes and on motorcycles represents a profound escalation and undermines Lebanon’s ability to assert state authority in the south.
🔴 #4 — ISRAEL EXPANDS EVACUATION ORDERS TO 15 TOWNS INCLUDING COMMUNITIES SURROUNDING NABATIEH CITY
[Al Jazeera April 30; Wikipedia — 4 hours ago; Times of Israel liveblog; L’Orient Today]
Israel expanded its evacuation orders (also referred to as forced displacement orders) to 15 more towns and villages, this time including various towns and villages that surround the larger town of Nabatieh.
The IDF’s evacuation warning was addressed to residents of Sammaaiyeh, Hanniyeh, Qlaileh, Wadi Jilou, Kniseh, Kafra, Majdal Zoun and Seddiqin. They are called to evacuate to at least a kilometer away. “Hezbollah activities are forcing the IDF to act against it, as it does not intend to harm you,” says army spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee.
This is the most significant evacuation order expansion of the entire ceasefire period. Communities surrounding Nabatieh — Lebanon’s most significant southern city outside Tyre and Sidon — are now under forced displacement orders. Nabatieh city itself (population 35,000+) has been under threat since the war began. The communities being evacuated today form a ring around the city. This suggests an impending IDF push toward Nabatieh itself.
🔴 #5 — THREE CIVIL DEFENCE WORKERS BURIED IN SOUR — AIRSTRIKE HITS SMAAIYEH DURING FUNERAL
[L’Orient Today — 2 days ago; Al Jazeera confirmed]
The funerals of three rescuers killed Tuesday in a double strike on Majdal Zoun were held in a tense atmosphere in Sour. Families holding their portraits throw rice and cry out in grief. Several hundred people gathered around the three coffins, wrapped in Lebanese flags. “They were not just colleagues. They were brothers, comrades,” one mourner shouted into the microphone.
As the ambulances carrying the bodies departed for burial, an airstrike hit Smaaiyeh — one of the eight localities threatened in a new forced evacuation order issued by the Israeli army.
Israel struck a village during a civil defence workers’ funeral — while those workers’ coffins were en route to their graves. Youssef, a Civil Defense member, said the anger was fueled by the fact that the organization’s director “did not denounce the Israeli violation or name those responsible for their deaths during his speech, as if they had died in an accident.” He stressed that “it was the state that sent them” to the site and that it “failed to protect them.”
One of the three civil defence workers — Hussein Ghadbouni — will be buried temporarily in the “wadiaa” tradition, as he is from Naqoura — a village in Lebanon’s far south that is occupied and heavily destroyed by Israel. He cannot be buried at home because his home village is under Israeli military occupation.
🔴 #6 — NETANYAHU: “FREEDOM OF ACTION” THROUGHOUT LEBANON IS IN THE AGREEMENT
[CNN — 1 day ago; Euronews confirmed]
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Israeli military personnel that the terms of the ceasefire with Lebanon allow Israel to continue bombing throughout the country. “Our freedom of action to thwart threats — immediate threats and emerging threats — is part of the agreement we made with the United States and also with the Lebanese government,” Netanyahu said.
This is the most explicit Israeli statement yet on what the ceasefire actually permits. Netanyahu is confirming that under the ceasefire agreement — with US and Lebanese government knowledge — Israel has the right to bomb “throughout the country” to address “immediate and emerging threats.” This is not a ceasefire. This is a managed permission for ongoing warfare, agreed by the US and Lebanese government.
🔴 #7 — UNDERGROUND TUNNELS BLOWN IN QANTARA; “JUST AS IN GAZA” — KATZ
[CNN — 1 day ago; Euronews confirmed]
The IDF said it has dismantled two underground tunnels it claims belong to Hezbollah, in the Qantara area of southern Lebanon. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the structures were destroyed in a “massive explosion” in Qantara. “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I instructed the IDF to destroy all terrorist infrastructure in the security zone up to the Blue Line, both underground and above ground, just as in Gaza — in order to remove threats to the residents of the Galilee,” Katz said.
The Israeli military said its soldiers found two underground tunnels built over approximately a decade, extending “dozens of meters” underground. The military found sniper weapons, explosive devices and equipment that allowed militants to stay underground for extended periods.
Netanyahu said: “We are destroying their terrorist infrastructure, we are killing dozens upon dozens of their militants — and more is yet to come.”
🔴 #8 — LEBANON BUILDING INTERNATIONAL LEGAL CASE AGAINST ISRAEL
[UPI — today April 30]
Lebanon is building a case against Israel to hold it accountable for alleged violations of international humanitarian law, including direct attacks on civilians, the killing of entire families, the leveling of multi-story residential buildings, and large-scale demolitions in the southern border area, rendering it uninhabitable.
The Lebanese government, along with multiple local and international organizations, has been actively documenting Israeli violations. Amnesty International has documented a wide range of direct, indiscriminate and disproportional attacks on civilians in Lebanon since 2023, specifically citing “journalists, medical workers and destruction of civilian properties” in the southern region. “These are all war crimes under international laws,” Wehbi said, adding that the Israeli Army used explosives “to extensively” destroy Lebanese border towns already under its control “with no active combat or military targets.”
A group of human rights experts appointed by the United Nations wrote that the issuance of what they called “blanket evacuation orders” and destruction of housing was consistent with Israel’s actions in Gaza.
🔴 #9 — UAE EXITS OPEC EFFECTIVE MAY 1; OIL $111; TRUMP BRIEFED ON HYPERSONIC MISSILES
[WRAL/AP — 4 days ago; L’Orient Today April 30; UPI confirmed]
The United Arab Emirates announced Tuesday that it will leave OPEC effective May 1, stripping the oil cartel of one of its largest producers. While the announcement won’t have an immediate impact on world oil supplies constrained by the war in Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, it could help lower oil prices after the war if the UAE increases its production capacity.
Brent crude oil traded above $111 a barrel — over 50% higher than its prewar price.
Oil briefly topped $126 on Asian markets on news the United States might resume bombing Iran and the Hormuz Strait closure could continue for months.
Trump is to be briefed by CENTCOM on new military options against Iran, including potential Middle East hypersonic missile deployment.
🔴 #10 — 1.2 MILLION LEBANESE FACE ACUTE HUNGER; MANSOURI VILLAGE REPORTED IN RUINS
[Al Jazeera April 30; NPR April 30]
NPR visited Mansouri, a small village in the undulating hills of Lebanon’s south about six miles from the country’s border with Israel. The centre of the village lies in ruins. A row of single-story shops blown out, goods scattered on the ground, glass shattered along the sidewalk. Homes and buildings are crumpled into themselves, unrecognizable. The mosque is blackened and burned, the minaret split in two. A Lebanese civil defense emergency vehicle is crushed next to the rubble, its windshield smashed.
Thirty-five-year-old Abed Ammar stands on the main street, looking at the destruction.
Mahdi, a resident living in a temporary shelter in Tyre since 2024, said she heard from UN peacekeepers that her home is completely gone, along with most of the village. “I’m angry, and I’m sad. But I’m also feeling a lot of fear – fear about how long it will be before we can return? What if that doesn’t happen in my lifetime? God, it looks like it’s going to be a long time.”
The UN-backed report confirms: 1.2 million Lebanese face acute hunger.
⚠️ #11 — HEZBOLLAH DRONE SHOT DOWN OVER NABATIEH; STRIKES IDF POSITION IN YARINE
[L’Orient Today — today April 30]
An Israeli army drone was shot down by Hezbollah over Nabatieh, and the group claimed a drone attack on an Israeli position in Yarine. These operations confirm Hezbollah maintains the capability to shoot down Israeli drones and strike IDF positions across the entire Nabatieh Governorate — even as Israel expands evacuation orders around Nabatieh city.
⚠️ #12 — CIVIL DEFENCE FUNERALS AND COMMUNITY GRIEF: “THE STATE SENT THEM AND FAILED TO PROTECT THEM”
[L’Orient Today — today April 30]
A Civil Defense member said “it was the state that sent them” to the site of the strike in Majdal Zoun and that it “failed to protect them.”
This statement — from within the Civil Defence organisation — captures the political crisis at the heart of Lebanon’s ceasefire: the Lebanese state has authorised its civil defence workers to operate in the south, those workers are being killed in double-tap strikes, and the state that sent them has not explicitly named Israel as responsible or protected its workers.
The anger at PM Salam at the funerals reflects the impossible position Lebanon’s government is in: pursuing peace negotiations while its workers are being killed, its soldiers struck in their homes, and 28 civilians die in a single day of “ceasefire.”
🌡️ GOVERNORATE SECURITY INDEX — APRIL 30, 2026
🏙️ BEIRUT
Index: 70/100 🟡 | Trend: Worsening — Domestic political pressure on Salam from civil defence funerals; anger at government
Beirut has gone 22 days without a direct Israeli airstrike — but the political temperature is rising rapidly. The anger at PM Salam from civil defence families at today’s Sour funerals signals the government’s peace-negotiation strategy is under domestic assault from all sides — Hezbollah from the right, grieving families of state workers from below.
Attacks on Beirut have temporarily halted since US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire in Lebanon on April 16. But the war rages on in southern Lebanon with Israel continuing to kill civilians, including rescue workers.
🏞️ MOUNT LEBANON
Index: 66/100 🟡 | Trend: Stable
Mount Lebanon calm. NPR’s ground report from Mansouri (south Lebanon) — published today — is being read by displaced families in Mount Lebanon shelters. The village described: completely destroyed. Their homes: gone.
🌊 NORTH LEBANON & TRIPOLI
Index: 65/100 🟡 | Trend: Stable
North Lebanon calm. 1.2 million Lebanese face acute hunger — the WFP and UN food insecurity warning is most acute for displaced populations in north Lebanon who have depleted savings and have no income.
🌲 AKKAR
Index: 66/100 🟡 | Trend: Stable
Masnaa open. Movement continuing. Oil at $111 is raising prices across all import-dependent Lebanese communities including Akkar.
🍇 BEQAA VALLEY
Index: 82/100 🔴 | Trend: Elevated — IDF striking Bekaa infrastructure
The Bekaa remains under elevated risk following Monday’s confirmed IDF strikes on Bekaa Valley infrastructure. Israel has been striking crucial infrastructure like bridges in southern Lebanon, taking out every major crossing over the Litani River heading to the south during the past two months of war. The Bekaa’s weapons resupply route is a confirmed IDF target.
🕌 BAALBEK-HERMEL
Index: 83/100 🔴 | Trend: Elevated — Hezbollah logistics hub; IDF targeting
Baalbek-Hermel remains at elevated danger. The MoD contractor killed April 28 was struck while performing demolitions in occupied areas — the Hezbollah drone campaign targeting IDF engineers is increasingly effective.
🌴 SOUTH LEBANON
Index: 93/100 🔴🔴 | Status: CEASEFIRE IN NAME ONLY — 28 KILLED TODAY; EVACUATION ORDERS AROUND NABATIEH
Israeli forces have intensified their attacks in southern Lebanon over recent days, with artillery shelling reported in the towns of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Yohmor al-Shaqif, and Bayt al-Sayyad.
ILTV confirmed: Israel says there is effectively no ceasefire in southern Lebanon. 28 people killed today. An IDF soldier killed at Qantara. A Lebanese soldier killed in his home with his family. Civil defence workers’ coffins moving through Sour while a strike hits their colleague’s home village. Evacuation orders for 15 communities around Nabatieh.
South Lebanon today is experiencing the worst violence of the entire ceasefire period. The ceasefire exists only on paper.
⛪ NABATIEH
Index: 94/100 🔴🔴 | Status: MAXIMUM — 15 evacuation orders issued around Nabatieh city; multiple towns struck today
Nabatieh is today’s epicentre of the crisis. Jebchit, Toul, Zibdine, Harouf, Hamza neighbourhood (between Kfar Roummane and Nabatieh) — all struck today. Israel expanded its evacuation orders to 15 more towns and villages, this time including various towns and villages that surround the larger town of Nabatieh. A Hezbollah drone was shot down over Nabatieh. Hezbollah struck an IDF position in Yarine.
Nabatieh and its surrounding communities are experiencing the most intense single day of strikes since the ceasefire began. If you are anywhere in Nabatieh Governorate, leave immediately.

🎯 CRITICAL INTELLIGENCE — APRIL 30, 2026
⚠️ IS THE CEASEFIRE ALREADY OVER IN PRACTICE?
Israel says there is effectively no ceasefire in southern Lebanon as Hezbollah drone attacks continue and the IDF ramps up operations.
The evidence today:
- 28 people killed in a single day during a “ceasefire”
- 15 evacuation orders issued around Nabatieh — consistent with a pre-invasion displacement campaign
- Netanyahu confirmed the ceasefire permits Israel to bomb “throughout the country”
- Katz says the IDF will destroy all infrastructure “up to the Blue Line, both underground and above ground, just as in Gaza”
- Underground tunnels blown in a “massive explosion” in Qantara
- An IDF soldier killed, two wounded, a Lebanese soldier killed in his home, and a family member killed
- Israel struck a village while civil defence workers’ funerals were in progress
This is not a ceasefire. This is active war at a pace slightly below the pre-April 16 peak. The Lebanese people know this. The civil defence community knows this. Grieving families in Sour know this. The question is whether the US and Lebanon’s government will acknowledge it — and what action, if any, follows.
⚠️ NABATIEH CITY — IS THE IDF PREPARING AN ASSAULT?
The issuance of evacuation orders for 15 communities surrounding Nabatieh city — Lebanon’s most significant southern administrative centre — is the most alarming geographic development of the ceasefire period. Every major IDF ground operation in this war has been preceded by evacuation orders. Bint Jbeil was encircled. Khiam was warned. Now the communities forming a ring around Nabatieh are being told to leave.
If the IDF is preparing an operation against Nabatieh city itself, it would represent the largest urban assault of the war. Nabatieh (population 35,000+) is the seat of Nabatieh Governorate — with government offices, hospitals, schools, and civilian infrastructure. Its destruction would be Lebanon’s Bint Jbeil times ten.
⚠️ TRUMP CENTCOM BRIEFING — HYPERSONIC MISSILES — WHAT IT MEANS FOR LEBANON
Trump is to be briefed by CENTCOM on new military options against Iran, including potential Middle East hypersonic missile deployment. If Trump resumes the Iran war with hypersonic capability, Iran’s response will include Hezbollah’s heaviest rocket and drone barrage of the entire conflict. Lebanon would face bombardment exceeding even Black Wednesday (357 killed). The May 14 ceasefire expiry is now a dual countdown: Lebanon-Israel ceasefire AND potential Iran war resumption.
📱 EMERGENCY GUIDANCE — APRIL 30, 2026
🚨 MAXIMUM EMERGENCY FOR NABATIEH AND SURROUNDING AREAS
NABATIEH CITY AND SURROUNDINGS — IMMEDIATE: Israel has issued evacuation orders for 15 communities surrounding Nabatieh city. This is consistent with a pre-assault displacement campaign. IF YOU ARE IN OR NEAR NABATIEH CITY: LEAVE NOW. Move north toward Sidon or Beirut via the coastal road.
JEBCHIT, TOUL, HAROUF, QANA, ZIBDINE, HAMZA, BRAACHIT — ALL STRUCK TODAY: Do not approach. Do not enter. Emergency services are operating in these areas — do not obstruct rescue operations.
MAJDAL ZOUN AND SMAAIYEH: Both under active evacuation orders. Smaaiyeh was struck during the civil defence funeral convoy today. Do not be in either location.
FOR CIVIL DEFENCE AND EMERGENCY WORKERS IN SOUTH LEBANON: Three civil defence workers were killed in a double-tap strike at Majdal Zoun. A strike hit Smaaiyeh during their funeral convoy. The pattern of double-tap strikes on rescue operations is documented and confirmed. If you are responding to a strike site: do not remain at the first strike location. Move immediately after initial rescue. The second strike may follow.
SOUTH LEBANON GENERALLY: 28 killed today. 15 evacuation orders. IDF has stated it has “freedom of action throughout Lebanon.” The ceasefire is effectively non-functional in the south. Do not be south of Sidon without pressing necessity.
OIL AT $111/$126: Fuel costs are catastrophic for displaced families trying to move by car. Lebanese Red Cross: 1760. Civil Defence: 125. If you cannot afford fuel to evacuate, contact these numbers.

⚠️ FINAL ASSESSMENT — APRIL 30, 2026
Today — April 30, War Day 62 — Lebanon lost 28 people during a ceasefire. Today was the bloodiest single day since the ceasefire began on April 17.
What happened: A ceasefire killed 28 Lebanese people. An IDF soldier was killed. A Lebanese soldier was killed in his home with his family. Three civil defence workers were buried in Sour — while a strike hit the village of their colleague’s home. Evacuation orders were issued for 15 communities surrounding Nabatieh city. Underground tunnels were blown in “a massive explosion” at Qantara. Netanyahu confirmed the ceasefire permits Israel to bomb “throughout Lebanon.” ILTV said there is “effectively no ceasefire in southern Lebanon.”
The NPR correspondent visited Mansouri today:
“The center of the village lies in ruins. A row of single-story shops blown out, goods scattered on the ground, glass shattered along the sidewalk. Homes and buildings are crumpled into themselves, unrecognizable. The mosque is blackened and burned, the minaret split in two.”
Mahdi, who has been living in a temporary shelter in Tyre since 2024: “I’m angry, and I’m sad. But I’m also feeling a lot of fear — fear about how long it will be before we can return? What if that doesn’t happen in my lifetime? God, it looks like it’s going to be a long time.”
“Just smelling our own soil is enough,” she says.
