🚨 BREAKING DEVELOPMENTS — SATURDAY MARCH 7, 2026

🔴 BREAKING #1 — NABI CHIT MASSACRE: 41 KILLED, 40 WOUNDED IN SINGLE BEKAA OPERATION

[Al Jazeera, Reuters/CNBC, Euronews, Times of Israel — TODAY]

In the deadliest single incident in Lebanon since the current war began on March 1, Israeli forces carried out a combined air and commando operation against the Bekaa town of Nabi Chit overnight Friday-Saturday. The final toll confirmed by Lebanon’s Health Ministry: 41 people killed, 40 wounded — the single highest casualty event of this war in Lebanon to date.

The operation consisted of two elements: sustained aerial bombardment (at least 40 airstrikes on Nabi Chit and surrounding towns according to Lebanese NNA) and a helicopter-borne commando insertion from Syrian airspace using at least four helicopters.

Resident Shawki al-Masri described the ordeal to Reuters: “We heard the helicopters over our house all night — they were so low we thought they would land on us. People in the town woke up and started shooting at them, then the warplanes started bombing. It was a very violent night and only calmed down when the sun came up.”

Among the confirmed dead were three Lebanese Army soldiers killed by Israeli shelling during the commando operation — a significant and deeply concerning escalation involving direct lethal fire on Lebanese state forces.

🔴 BREAKING #2 — ISRAELI COMMANDOS SEARCH FOR RON ARAD — DEEPEST INSERTION SINCE 2024

[Times of Israel, Al Arabiya, Al Jazeera — TODAY]

The IDF confirmed Saturday the operation’s secondary objective: an attempt to locate the remains of Ron Arad, an Israeli Air Force navigator captured in Lebanon in 1986 after his jet was shot down and missing since 1988. “No findings related to him were located at the search site,” the IDF stated.

Hezbollah said four Israeli Army helicopters infiltrated from the Syrian direction. After landing, “advancing troops were engaged by a group of Hezbollah fighters as they reached the Nabi Chit cemetery.” Hezbollah says it fired on the Israeli evacuation zone as commandos withdrew.

The IDF disputed the Hezbollah account, saying there were “no clashes with the Iran-backed forces and no fire was directed at the forces,” and that “anyone who approached the forces was hit.”

This was the deepest Israeli commando insertion into Lebanon since special forces abducted Hezbollah operative Imad Amhaz from the northern city of Batroun in November 2024. Nabi Chit is in the heart of the Baalbek district — approximately 85km from the Israeli border.

🔴 BREAKING #3 — SHMISTAR: SIX KILLED INCLUDING FOUR CHILDREN

[Euronews, Al Jazeera — TODAY]

A separate Israeli strike on the town of Shmistar in eastern Lebanon killed at least six people including four children. The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed the toll. Euronews verified footage from the scene. This follows the earlier confirmed killing of two children — two-year-old Haidar and four-year-old Ruqaya Arout — in a March 3 strike on a house for displaced persons in southern Lebanon, and the UNICEF-confirmed killing of at least seven children in the first 24 hours of hostilities.

🔴 BREAKING #4 — HEZBOLLAH ORDERS KIRYAT SHMONA RESIDENTS TO EVACUATE SOUTHWARD

[Times of Israel, Al Jazeera — TODAY]

Hezbollah issued a formal evacuation warning to residents of Kiryat Shmona, Israel’s northernmost city: “Warning. All residents of Kiryat Shmona are asked to evacuate immediately. Head south.” This mirrors the mass evacuation orders Israel has been issuing for Lebanese villages. Rocket and drone sirens sounded across the Galilee Panhandle and Golan Heights throughout the day. The IDF reported interceptions, with no immediate serious injuries.

🔴 BREAKING #5 — KATZ TO AOUN: LEBANON WILL PAY “VERY HEAVY PRICE”

[Al Jazeera, Reuters, Times of Israel — TODAY]

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a direct warning to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in a statement broadcast on Israeli television: “If the choice becomes protecting our civilians and the safety of our soldiers or Lebanon, we will choose to defend our civilians and our soldiers, and the government of Lebanon and Lebanon will pay a very heavy price.”

Katz’s warning comes as Hezbollah continues to fire rockets and drones from Lebanese territory despite the Lebanese government’s formal March 2 ban on all Hezbollah military activities. The Lebanese government’s inability to enforce its own ban is now the central political tension of the crisis.

🔴 BREAKING #6 — UNIFIL AL-QAWZAH BASE ATTACKED MARCH 6 — THREE PEACEKEEPERS WOUNDED

[UNIFIL Statement dated March 6, 2026 — confirmed today]

UNIFIL issued an official statement Friday: “Amidst heavy firing this evening, three peacekeepers were injured inside their base in Al Qawzah, southwestern Lebanon. The most severely injured has been transferred to hospital in Beirut for treatment. The two others are being treated in a UNIFIL medical facility. A fire on the base has been extinguished.”

UNIFIL stated: “It is unacceptable that peacekeepers performing Security Council-mandated tasks are targeted. Any attack on UNIFIL peacekeepers constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and of Security Council Resolution 1701 and may amount to a war crime.

French President Emmanuel Macron described the incident as “unacceptable” in a statement on X, calling for respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and the safety of peacekeeping forces. UNIFIL currently fields approximately 7,538 personnel in Lebanon (reduced from 10,500 due to the UN’s liquidity crisis and cost-cutting measures). Irish, Austrian, and Italian troops remain deployed.

🔴 BREAKING #7 — TRIPOLI STRUCK FOR FIRST TIME — HAMAS COMMANDER KILLED NEAR NORTH LEBANON

[NPR, Times of Israel — confirmed Thursday March 5, ongoing]

Israel’s navy conducted a strike near Tripoli — described in Israeli media as targeting a Hamas commander responsible for training operatives in Lebanon. This was the first Israeli strike in or near Tripoli in this current conflict cycle. It represents a significant geographic expansion of Israeli operations into Lebanon’s second city and the entire north of the country, previously considered far from the conflict zone.

The killing of a Hamas commander — not Hezbollah — near Tripoli signals that Israel is simultaneously targeting multiple non-state armed actors across Lebanon, not restricting itself to Hezbollah.

🔴 BREAKING #8 — HEZBOLLAH COMMANDER ZAID ALI JUMAA KILLED IN BEIRUT

[NPR, CBS News — confirmed Thursday March 5]

Israel killed Zaid Ali Jumaa in Beirut — described by the Israeli military as a senior figure in Hezbollah’s rocket and drone operations. This is one of multiple Hezbollah commanders eliminated by Israeli strikes since March 1, following the earlier killing of intelligence chief Hussein Makled and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander Adham Adnan al-Othman.

The systematic targeting of Hezbollah’s command and operational leadership is a defining feature of Israel’s current campaign — attempting to collapse the organisation’s military decision-making structure while simultaneously destroying physical infrastructure.

🔴 BREAKING #9 — CUMULATIVE TOLL: 217+ KILLED, 798+ WOUNDED, 300,000 DISPLACED

[Lebanon MoPH via Al Jazeera, Friday; NRC displacement estimate, Saturday]

As of Friday March 6, Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health confirmed:

  • 217 people killed since March 1
  • 798 people wounded
  • 95,000 people registered in official collective shelters (government count)

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) separately estimated total displaced at approximately 300,000 people — a figure that accounts for those in unofficial shelters, staying with relatives, in cars, or in the open.

The IRC reported that more than 84,000 people were in collective shelters by March 1, with numbers doubling within 24 hours as the situation escalated. Hundreds of schools and public buildings have been converted to emergency shelters. Official shelter capacity has been exceeded across Lebanon.

Additional toll context:

  • At least 7 children killed in the first 24 hours of hostilities (UNICEF)
  • 2-year-old Haidar and 4-year-old Ruqaya Arout killed March 3 in a house sheltering displaced families
  • 4 children killed in today’s Shmistar strike
  • 3 Lebanese Army soldiers killed in the Nabi Chit operation overnight

🔴 BREAKING #10 — SYRIAN REFUGEES MASS-FLEEING LEBANON: 11,000 IN SINGLE DAY

[IRC, confirmed March 4-5 data]

Lebanon hosts approximately 1.5 million Syrian refugees — the highest number per capita in the world. The current war is forcing a second mass displacement. Approximately 11,000 people crossed from Lebanon into Syria in a single 24-hour period on March 4, according to Syrian authorities.

Syrian refugees face specific dangers: they are barred from certain official shelters reserved for Lebanese citizens. Many have been sleeping in the open or in cars. Syrian refugee Um Mahmoud — who fled Idlib in 2011 and had been displaced four times since October 2023 — described the latest flight: “You should have seen the exodus in the darkness. It was devastating, some people on motorcycles, others on foot. Farmers without trucks herded their sheep on the shoulders of the road.”

🔴 BREAKING #11 — UN CHIEF: “WORLD ECONOMY AT GRAVE RISK — SITUATION COULD SPIRAL BEYOND ANYONE’S CONTROL”

[UN News, March 6, 2026]

UN Secretary-General António Guterres issued his starkest warning yet: the world economy is at “grave risk” from the expanding Middle East war, and “the situation could spiral beyond anyone’s control.” He called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, stating: “It is time to stop the fighting and get to the table.”

UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert stated: “It is clear that ongoing military actions will not deliver a lasting win to anyone. They will only deepen instability and inflict further suffering.” She called for talks between Israel and Lebanon to “be pursued with urgency.”

UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk described Lebanon as becoming “a key flashpoint” and called for “an immediate cessation of hostilities.”

🔴 BREAKING #12 — US-IRAN WAR DAY 8: IRAN FIRES 8 MISSILE SALVOS; 1,300+ KILLED IN IRAN

[NPR, CBS News, Times of Israel — TODAY and March 6]

The regional war that has engulfed Lebanon continues in its eighth day:

  • Iran fires 8 missile salvos at Israel overnight, with Israeli air defenses operational to intercept
  • Israel destroys 16 IRGC Quds Force aircraft at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport in overnight strikes, calling it “a central hub for arming Hezbollah”
  • 1,300+ people killed in Iran including Supreme Leader Khamenei and over 160 people in a single strike on a girls’ school (Iranian Red Crescent)
  • UAE reports new Iranian missile and drone attacks — Iran continuing retaliatory strikes against Gulf Arab states partnering with US forces
  • Houthis (Yemen): Still weighing entry into the war; leader declared “general mobilization” but no confirmed combat engagement yet. Houthi political bureau member Hizam al-Assad told Al Jazeera: “If American and Israeli aggression expands… then every scenario will be on the table”
  • Trump at Shield of Americas Summit (Florida): Claimed the US has “knocked out 42 Iranian navy ships” and “much of the Iranian air force”
  • Iran’s missile/drone launch volume declining per US General Caine: down 86% from Day 1, signalling capacity degradation

🔴 BREAKING #13 — MEHR ABAD AIRPORT STRIKES + IDF CLAIMS QUDS FORCE SUPPLY CHAIN DESTROYED

[Times of Israel — TODAY]

The IDF said it struck Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran overnight, destroying 16 aircraft used by the IRGC Quds Force, which it described as “a central hub for arming and funding the regime’s terrorist proxies in the Middle East, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah.” The IDF also struck ballistic missile production and launch sites, IRGC command centers, and weapons depots. If confirmed, this represents a major degradation of the supply pipeline that has historically armed Hezbollah in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley.

🌡️ GOVERNORATE-BY-GOVERNORATE WARTIME ASSESSMENT — MARCH 7, 2026

⚠️ ALL REGIONS ASSESSED UNDER ACTIVE WAR CONDITIONS.

🏙️ BEIRUT — Index: 97/100 🔴🔴 | ACTIVE WAR ZONE

Beirut has been under sustained bombardment for eight days. Dahiyeh and Haret Hreik continue to receive near-nightly Israeli airstrikes. Friday night’s wave followed the killing of Zaid Ali Jumaa — Hezbollah’s drone and rocket operations chief — in an earlier Thursday strike. Buildings in Hezbollah’s southern stronghold “lay as mounds of smoking rubble and twisted metal,” per Reuters video from Saturday morning.

The Israeli warning threat to “Iranian representatives in Lebanon” — giving them 24 hours to leave or face targeting — introduces a specific threat vector in Beirut’s Hazmieh-Baabda diplomatic quarter, where embassies are concentrated and the Comfort Hotel was struck Wednesday.

Displacement centres throughout Beirut are beyond capacity. Displaced persons are sleeping in Martyrs’ Square and other public spaces downtown — AP photographer Bilal Hussein documented this Saturday morning. The US Embassy remains closed; other Western missions are operating on emergency protocols.

Israeli surveillance drones buzz continuously over Beirut. Red tracer fire lights the night sky as warning shots. There is no ceasefire, no mediation, and no diplomatic process underway to end the conflict, per Al Jazeera’s correspondent.

⛔ DO NOT TRAVEL TO BEIRUT SOUTHERN SUBURBS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. If present in Beirut, minimise all movement. Have emergency plan and departure option ready. Beirut Airport operational — use now if departing.

🏞️ MOUNT LEBANON — Index: 92/100 🔴🔴 | ACTIVE — STRUCK MARCH 4; OVERWHELMED BY DISPLACED

Mount Lebanon was directly struck on March 4 (Aramoun, Saadiyat — 6 killed). It is now the primary absorption zone for displaced persons from the south, Nabatieh, Bekaa, and Dahiyeh. Collective shelters in schools and public buildings are well beyond capacity. Rental prices are rising sharply; competition for food and basic services is intensifying as IRC Lebanon Country Director Magda Rossmann confirmed.

The Thursday Tripoli strike signal that Israeli operations are expanding northward cannot be ignored for Mount Lebanon’s security calculus.

⛔ EXTREME CAUTION. Monitor situation hourly. Be prepared for further strikes in previously safe areas.

🌊 NORTH LEBANON & TRIPOLI — Index: 87/100 🔴 | DIRECTLY STRUCK — NOW ACTIVE ZONE

North Lebanon is no longer a refuge. Tripoli was struck Thursday in a naval strike targeting a Hamas commander. This is the first Israeli attack on Lebanon’s second-largest city in the current conflict cycle and fundamentally changes the risk profile of the entire north.

The city is simultaneously receiving a massive displacement wave from the south. Shelters are overwhelmed. The psychological and social impact of becoming a direct target while absorbing 300,000 displaced persons is creating acute humanitarian crisis conditions.

Syrian border remains closed for departures. Cross-border movement into Syria now operates only for arrivals (Syrians returning or Lebanese crossing eastward with restrictions).

⛔ HIGH DANGER. Tripoli struck Thursday. Syrian border closed for Lebanese departures. Shelters full. All of North Lebanon must be considered a potential target zone.

🌲 AKKAR — Index: 86/100 🔴 | Critical — Border Closed; Potential Target

Akkar remains tense with the Syrian border closed, creating a humanitarian squeeze on Lebanon’s most economically vulnerable governorate. The confirmed Hezbollah drone targeting of Cyprus from Lebanese territory — with Cyprus confirming the drone was likely from Lebanon, not Iran directly — raises the profile of northern Lebanese territory as a launch zone and potential Israeli targeting area.

⚠️ HIGH CAUTION. Syrian border closed. Monitor for Israeli statements on northern launch sites. Economic crisis acute.

🍇 BEQAA VALLEY — Index: 99/100 🔴🔴 | MAXIMUM DANGER — NABI CHIT MASSACRE TODAY

The Bekaa Valley has become the primary ground combat zone in Lebanon as of this morning. The Nabi Chit operation — 41 killed, 40 wounded, Israeli commando insertion from Syrian airspace, deepest penetration of Lebanese territory since November 2024 — represents a dramatic escalation of operations in the heart of the Bekaa.

The Bekaa Valley is simultaneously:

  • The primary Hezbollah community stronghold and population base
  • The main Iranian arms supply corridor to Hezbollah
  • The primary target for Israel’s interdiction campaign
  • The route through which IDF commandos are now operating from Syrian airspace

The Israeli claim to have destroyed the Quds Force supply chain at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, if confirmed, would significantly degrade future Iranian arms flows to the Bekaa. However, in the short term, Israeli operations here are intensifying, not reducing.

Syrian border crossings in the Bekaa area (Masna and others) are effectively non-functional: four were bombed January 22; the area was struck again in February and is under active targeting.

⛔ MAXIMUM DANGER. Immediate evacuation is the only safe course. No safe zones identifiable in the Bekaa. Nabi Chit and surrounding Baalbek district: absolutely do not enter. Move northward via Zahle-Chtaura toward Beirut or Tripoli.

🕌 BAALBEK-HERMEL — Index: 100/100 🔴🔴 | DO NOT ENTER — GROUND COMBAT ZONE

Baalbek-Hermel is at the absolute maximum danger level. The overnight Nabi Chit operation sits squarely within this governorate. Nabi Chit has been struck at least 54 times in two days (13 strikes Friday, 40+ during the overnight operation). The Hermel corridor is under sustained interdiction bombing as the primary Iranian supply route to Hezbollah.

Three Lebanese Army soldiers were killed here in the Nabi Chit operation — the Lebanese state’s armed forces are taking casualties in Israel’s campaign against Hezbollah infrastructure in this governorate.

The IDF’s claim to be destroying the Quds Force aircraft at Mehrabad which supplied “Lebanon’s Hezbollah” directly identifies the Bekaa-Hermel corridor as the endpoint of that supply chain — making it a continued and intensifying target.

⛔ DO NOT ENTER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. If present, evacuate immediately. There are no safe zones. This is an active ground combat zone.

🏛️ KESERWAN-JBEIL — Index: 82/100 🔴 | Critical — No Direct Strikes; Best Departure Point

Keserwan-Jbeil has not been directly struck. It is currently the most viable governorate for emergency shelter and as a staging area for airport departure. Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) is operational, though under significant pressure.

With Tripoli now struck, Keserwan-Jbeil is increasingly the last buffer zone that has not seen direct Israeli targeting. This could change rapidly.

⚠️ ELEVATED CAUTION. If departing Lebanon, use BEY now while operational. Be prepared for rapid deterioration.

🌴 SOUTH LEBANON — Index: 100/100 🔴🔴 | DO NOT ENTER — ACTIVE GROUND WAR

South Lebanon remains at maximum danger. Total evacuation order south of the Litani remains in force. Lebanese Army has withdrawn from border positions. Israeli ground forces are advancing; the buffer zone is being physically established through ongoing operations.

Sidon has been struck. Tyre has seen WHO-documented killing of paramedics. The south is effectively a ground war zone with no civilian safety guarantees anywhere.

Israeli reserve call-ups continue: Israel has called up tens of thousands of reservists for deployment near the Lebanese border, fuelling assessments of a potential deeper ground invasion to “push back or even end” Hezbollah, per CNN’s analysis.

⛔ TOTAL EVACUATION ZONE. Do not enter for any reason. If still present, leave immediately.

⛪ NABATIEH — Index: 100/100 🔴🔴 | DO NOT ENTER — ACTIVE GROUND WAR

Same total evacuation order. Same ground war conditions as South Lebanon. Every district under mass bombardment. Khiam, entered March 4, remains under Israeli ground force control.

⛔ TOTAL EVACUATION ZONE. Leave immediately.

📱 WARTIME EMERGENCY GUIDANCE — SATURDAY MARCH 7, 2026

🚨 PRIORITY ONE — IMMEDIATE LIFE-SAFETY ACTIONS:

IF YOU ARE IN BAALBEK, NABI CHIT, OR SURROUNDING BEKAA TOWNS: Leave immediately. The area experienced 41 deaths in a single overnight operation. Israeli commandos operated from Syrian airspace. Further airstrikes and operations are expected. There is no warning before Israeli operations in this area. Every hour you remain increases danger. Move northward via Zahle toward Tripoli or Beirut.

IF YOU ARE IN SHMISTAR OR EASTERN LEBANON: Four children were killed this morning. Eastern Lebanon from Baalbek to the Syrian border is now an active target zone.

IF YOU ARE IN SOUTH LEBANON OR NABATIEH: Total evacuation order remains in force. Ground war ongoing. No civilian protection is available. Leave now.

IF YOU ARE IN TRIPOLI: The city was struck Thursday for the first time. It is no longer a safe haven. Have emergency plan ready. Know where the nearest hospital is. Identify evacuation routes northward or toward Beirut airport.

IF YOU ARE IN BEIRUT: Southern suburbs: do not enter for any reason. For all other areas: minimise movement, stay away from Hezbollah-associated buildings and institutions, and keep mobile devices charged. If you have the means to depart Lebanon — do so now via BEY while the airport remains operational.

🏠 SHELTER-IN-PLACE GUIDANCE (FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT EVACUATE):

  • Identify the most structurally reinforced interior room: interior walls, lowest habitable floor, or basement
  • Stay away from all windows and external walls during any firing
  • Keep mobile phone charged at all times with a portable charger as backup
  • Have 72-hour supply of water (minimum 3 litres per person per day), food, and essential medications
  • Know your nearest functioning hospital — call ahead, most are under extreme pressure
  • Do not operate any drone equipment; all permits suspended nationwide
  • Monitor Civil Defense alerts and CIS Security notifications on an hourly basis

🏢 FOR BUSINESSES AND ORGANISATIONS:

The situation has deteriorated substantially since March 4. The killing of three Lebanese Army soldiers at Nabi Chit signals that Israeli operations are not avoiding Lebanese state forces. Businesses with any operations in the Bekaa Valley, Baalbek-Hermel, south Lebanon, Nabatieh, or Tripoli should assume no staffing is safe in those locations.

  • Emergency evacuation of all staff from the active zones listed above is non-negotiable
  • Business continuity is suspended in the south and east — there are no operations possible under current conditions
  • Insurance war exclusions are active; document all losses now
  • Supply chains remain severely disrupted; international shipping suspension in Gulf region; 3,000+ regional flights cancelled
  • Financial system pressure: ensure liquidity; banking systems in Lebanon are under stress
  • Plan for prolonged conflict: the UN Secretary-General has given no timeline for resolution; Israel has stated “1-2 more weeks” of Iran operations remain

🌙 RAMADAN NOTE — DAY 18

Today is the 18th day of Ramadan 2026. The holy month continues amid Lebanon’s worst security crisis in a generation. Families are unable to observe Ramadan traditions, conduct iftar gatherings, or pray together in their communities. Hundreds of thousands of displaced persons are spending Ramadan in cars, on pavements, in overcrowded shelters. Four children were killed in Shmistar this morning. Two toddlers were killed earlier this week in a house for displaced families.

CIS Security extends prayers for the safety of all Lebanese families observing Ramadan under these catastrophic conditions, and all humanitarian workers, paramedics, medical personnel, and UNIFIL peacekeepers serving in Lebanon.

⚠️ CRITICAL FINAL NOTICE — MARCH 7, 2026

THE NABI CHIT OPERATION THIS MORNING IS A TURNING POINT.

Israeli commandos have now demonstrated the capability and willingness to insert forces 85km deep into Lebanon via Syrian airspace — striking the heart of the Bekaa Valley, killing 41 people including 3 Lebanese Army soldiers, and searching a cemetery for a missing airman last seen in 1988. This is not a limited border operation. This is a campaign to destroy Hezbollah’s infrastructure and command structure across all of Lebanon’s territory.

The Lebanese government has banned Hezbollah’s military activities. It has no capacity to enforce that ban. Three of its soldiers are dead from the overnight operation. Hezbollah continues to fire rockets and drones at Israel. Israel continues to kill and displace Lebanon’s civilian population.

The UN Secretary-General has said the situation could spiral “beyond anyone’s control.”

If you have any means to depart Lebanon — depart now. Beirut Airport is currently operational. That window may close.

If you cannot depart, secure yourself in the safest location available, have 72-hour supplies ready, keep your phone charged, and call CIS Security’s emergency line if you need evacuation assistance: +961-3-539900.
