THIS IS DAY 17 OF THE US-ISRAELI WAR ON IRAN. THE IDF GROUND INVASION OF SOUTH LEBANON IS NOW ACTIVE.

The threshold has been crossed. This morning the IDF formally announced it has begun “limited and targeted ground operations against key Hezbollah strongholds in southern Lebanon” — with the 91st “Galilee” Regional Division and its 401st Brigade already operating inside Lebanese territory. Today is the most consequential day in Lebanon since the war began on March 2.

In 24 hours since our last edition:

• The IDF ground invasion formally began — 91st Division, 401st Brigade active in south Lebanon
• IDF forces are confirmed 5km inside Lebanon by UNIFIL
• The battle of Khiam is underway — gateway to south Lebanon and the Bekaa
• Defence Minister Katz declared south Lebanon will become “a wasteland like Gaza”
• Displaced Lebanese formally barred from returning south of the Litani
• One million Lebanese — 20% of the entire population — officially displaced
• Death toll rose to 886 including 111 children
• Gulf oil exports down 60%; Dubai Airport drone-struck; Iran hit near Jerusalem’s holiest sites
• The G5 called for immediate de-escalation — Israel is proceeding regardless
• Operations are planned to continue for at least three more weeks

CIS Security’s assessment: The ground invasion is not a probe, a limited raid, or a show of force. It is confirmed policy — “like Gaza” in stated scope, with an explicit goal of permanent transformation of south Lebanon’s demographic and physical landscape. One million people displaced in 14 days. An operation running at minimum to April 7. A diplomatic track functionally suspended. An economy collapsing at $20M per day. The Khiam battle today introduces a new threat vector toward the Bekaa Valley within 48-72 hours. The airport remains open but this cannot be assumed to continue indefinitely.

The single most important action any person in Lebanon can take today is to board a flight out, if they have the means to do so. The ground invasion has begun. The timeline is three more weeks minimum. There is no ceasefire coming in that window.
