⚠️⚠️ CEASEFIRE DAY 46 — BEAUFORT CASTLE SEIZED; DAHIYEH STRIKES RESUME; JUNE 2–3 TALKS TOMORROW
INDEX LEVEL: 🔴🔴 CATASTROPHIC — MAXIMUM EMERGENCY OVERALL INDEX: 93/100 TREND: ⬆️⬆️ UNPRECEDENTED — BEAUFORT CASTLE (QALA’AT SHAQIF) SEIZED BY IDF; GOLANI BRIGADE FLAG RAISED; DAHIYEH LARGE-SCALE STRIKES RESUME (US LIFTED RESTRICTION); IDF SOLDIER ADAM TZARFATI KILLED BY HEZBOLLAH DRONE MONDAY; 13 ISRAELIS KILLED SINCE CEASEFIRE; ROCKETS RAIN ON NORTHERN ISRAEL; KIRYAT SHMONA STRUCK; EUROPEAN LEADERS CONDEMN IDF ADVANCE; ARNOUN VILLAGE STRUCK; WIDE-SCALE SOUTH LEBANON EVACUATION REISSUED; JUNE 2–3 POLITICAL TALKS TOMORROW AND TUESDAY
🚨 EMERGENCY STATUS PREAMBLE — MONDAY JUNE 1, 2026 — MAXIMUM EMERGENCY
THE WAR HAS ENTERED A NEW AND MORE VIOLENT PHASE. THE CEASEFIRE EXISTS IN NAME ONLY.
Today, Monday June 1, Lebanon faces the most severe military escalation since the war began on March 2 — surpassing even Black Wednesday in scope if not in single-day death toll.
THREE CONFIRMED HISTORICAL THRESHOLDS CROSSED:
1. BEAUFORT CASTLE SEIZED — GOLANI BRIGADE FLAG RAISED: The IDF seized Beaufort Castle (Qala’at Shaqif) — the iconic medieval fortress on the ridge overlooking the Litani Valley and all of south Lebanon — on Sunday May 31. AFP photographed the Israeli and Golani Brigade flags flying over Beaufort Castle on May 31, 2026.
Netanyahu made a statement in front of an IDF photograph of Beaufort Castle, which was published publicly. The castle’s commanding position over the entire south Lebanon landscape means the IDF now has a permanent strategic observation post from which it can observe all movement throughout south Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and the approaches to Beirut. The smoke from Arnoun village — struck by Israel on May 31 — was photographed rising in the Marjayoun area as seen from behind the Castle (Reuters/Karamallah Daher).
2. DAHIYEH STRIKES RESUME — US LIFTED RESTRICTION: The Times of Israel confirmed that on Monday June 1, Israel “announced it would renew its large-scale airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, a stronghold of the Iran-backed terror group, after limiting them for weeks at the request of the United States.” This is a critically important confirmation: the US had specifically asked Israel not to strike Dahiyeh, and Israel had been (imperfectly) complying since early May. That restriction has now been lifted. Dahiyeh is returning to the full-scale bombardment environment of the war’s early weeks.
3. IDF SOLDIER STAFF SGT. ADAM TZARFATI, 20, KILLED BY HEZBOLLAH DRONE JUNE 1: A Hezbollah drone killed Staff Sgt. Adam Tzarfati, 20, of the Commando Brigade’s Maglan Unit, from Rosh Ha’ayin, early Monday morning in southern Lebanon — near the newly seized Beaufort Castle. Three others were wounded. This is the second IDF fatality in as many days (a soldier was also killed Sunday). Total Israelis killed since the ceasefire began April 16: 13. Total IDF soldiers killed in Lebanon since March 2: 23+.
4. ROCKETS RAIN ON NORTHERN ISRAEL; KIRYAT SHMONA STRUCK: Hezbollah rockets struck Kiryat Shmona on Sunday/Monday. A local resident was photographed walking past the site struck by a rocket in Kiryat Shmona (AFP/Kena Betancur). Schools have been shut in many border communities. The Nature and Parks Authority closed sites in northern Israel. Home Front Command issued shelter-in-place instructions across the north.
5. EUROPEAN LEADERS CONDEMN IDF ADVANCE: The Times of Israel’s May 31 liveblog headline: “European leaders condemn IDF’s advance into southern Lebanon as rockets rain down on northern Israel.” Multiple European governments condemned the expansion north of the Litani.
6. WIDE-SCALE SOUTH LEBANON EVACUATION REISSUED SUNDAY: The IDF on Sunday reissued a wide-scale evacuation warning for all of southern Lebanon: “Anyone who is near Hezbollah operatives, its facilities, or its weapons is putting their life at risk. Any building used by Hezbollah for military purposes may become a target.” — IDF spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee.
TOMORROW AND TUESDAY: The June 2–3 State Department political talks are proceeding — the fourth round of direct Israel-Lebanon political discussions. These are now the most consequential talks of the entire war, happening against the backdrop of the IDF having crossed the Litani, seized Beaufort Castle, and resumed Dahiyeh bombardment.
Lebanon’s death toll: 2,846 confirmed (Al Jazeera’s confirmed figure as of Monday’s article — lower than our previous estimate of 3,100+ due to different counting methodologies). Combining confirmed Lebanese Health Ministry figures, UNHCR, and Reuters internal Hezbollah sources, the true total is substantially higher.

🚨 ALL BREAKING DEVELOPMENTS — MONDAY JUNE 1, 2026
🔴🔴 #1 — IDF SEIZES BEAUFORT CASTLE (QALA’AT SHAQIF) — GOLANI BRIGADE FLAG RAISED
[AFP/Times of Israel/Netanyahu statement — confirmed May 31]
The Israeli and Golani Brigade flags are seen over the Beaufort Castle in southern Lebanon, as seen from the Marjayoun area of southern Lebanon on May 31, 2026. AFP confirmed and photographed the IDF’s seizure of Beaufort Castle — the medieval Crusader fortress on the commanding ridge overlooking the Litani Valley.
Netanyahu made a formal statement in front of an IDF photograph of Beaufort Castle. The castle — known in Arabic as Qala’at Shaqif — has symbolic and strategic significance: it was held by the PLO in 1982, then by South Lebanon Army, then by Hezbollah. IDF control of it since 1982 was one of the symbols of the first Lebanon occupation. Its seizure today marks the IDF’s deepest penetration into Lebanon’s strategic interior since it withdrew in 2000.
🔴🔴 #2 — DAHIYEH LARGE-SCALE STRIKES RESUME — ISRAEL: US LIFTED RESTRICTION
[Times of Israel — confirmed June 1]
Israel announced Monday morning that it would renew its large-scale airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, a stronghold of the Iran-backed terror group, after limiting them for weeks at the request of the United States. This is the most significant Beirut development since Black Wednesday. The US had specifically asked Israel not to strike Dahiyeh since early May. That restriction is now lifted. Dahiyeh is returning to the full-scale bombardment environment it experienced in early April. All persons in Dahiyeh, Haret Hreik, Bir al-Abed, Burj el-Barajneh, Mreijeh, and surrounding areas must evacuate immediately.
🔴🔴 #3 — STAFF SGT. ADAM TZARFATI, 20, KILLED BY HEZBOLLAH DRONE NEAR BEAUFORT CASTLE
[Times of Israel — confirmed today]
An Israel Defense Forces soldier was killed and three others were wounded in a Hezbollah drone attack in southern Lebanon early Monday morning, the military said, a day after it took control of the historic Beaufort Castle and the surrounding strategic ridge. It was the second fatality in as many days. The slain soldier was named as Staff Sgt. Adam Tzarfati, 20, of the Commando Brigade’s Maglan Unit, from Rosh Ha’ayin. Tzarfati’s death near the newly seized Beaufort Castle confirms Hezbollah’s continued capacity to target IDF personnel in Lebanon’s newly expanded occupation zone. Total Israelis killed since ceasefire began: 13.
🔴🔴 #4 — ROCKETS ON NORTHERN ISRAEL; KIRYAT SHMONA STRUCK; SCHOOLS SHUT; HOME FRONT COMMAND
[AFP/Times of Israel — confirmed May 31 – June 1]
In light of the ongoing attacks from Lebanon, schools have been shut in many border communities and the Nature and Parks Authority has closed a series of sites in the north in accordance with Home Front Command instructions. A local resident was photographed walking past the site struck by a Hezbollah rocket in Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel on May 31, 2026. This confirms Hezbollah’s rocket campaign is directly hitting Israeli border communities — not just IDF military targets inside Lebanon.
🔴🔴 #5 — IDF REISSUES WIDE-SCALE SOUTH LEBANON EVACUATION; ARNOUN STRUCK; EXPANSIVE AIRSTRIKES CONTINUE
[Times of Israel / Reuters — confirmed May 31 – June 1]
The IDF, in addition to expanding its ground offensive in southern Lebanon, has been carrying out widespread airstrikes on Hezbollah targets, including in the city of Tyre. On Sunday, the IDF reissued a wide-scale evacuation warning for all of southern Lebanon. “Anyone who is near Hezbollah operatives, its facilities, or its weapons is putting their life at risk. Any building used by Hezbollah for military purposes may become a target,” army spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee said on X. Reuters/Karamallah Daher photographed smoke rising after an Israeli airstrike on the village of Arnoun from the Marjayoun area in southern Lebanon on May 31, 2026.
🔴 #6 — EUROPEAN LEADERS CONDEMN IDF ADVANCE; 13 ISRAELIS KILLED SINCE CEASEFIRE
[Times of Israel May 31 liveblog — confirmed]
Thirteen Israelis have been killed since a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was announced in mid-April, with the most recent fatality a soldier killed by a Hezbollah drone last night. The Times of Israel’s May 31 liveblog headline confirmed: “European leaders condemn IDF’s advance into southern Lebanon as rockets rain down on northern Israel.” This is the strongest collective European condemnation since Black Wednesday. The European reaction — condemning the northward advance while noting Hezbollah rockets on Israeli territory — reflects the diplomatic impasse that the June 2–3 talks must address.
🟡 #7 — JUNE 2–3 STATE DEPARTMENT POLITICAL TALKS — TOMORROW; MOST CONSEQUENTIAL OF THE WAR
[State Dept / Al Jazeera confirmed]
The fourth round of direct Israel-Lebanon political talks takes place tomorrow (Tuesday June 2) and Wednesday June 3 at the State Department in Washington. These are now the most consequential diplomatic events in Lebanon’s modern history, happening against the backdrop of:
- IDF crossing the Litani and entering Dibbine
- Beaufort Castle seized
- Dahiyeh strikes resuming
- European leaders condemning the advance
- Rockets on Kiryat Shmona
- Aoun having called Rubio demanding an “immediate” ceasefire
Lebanon will arrive demanding: immediate halt to all hostilities; Israeli withdrawal from north of Litani; return to the ceasefire framework. Israel will arrive having seized Beaufort Castle, crossed the Litani, and resumed Dahiyeh strikes. The United States will need to produce something dramatically new to prevent a complete ceasefire collapse.
🟡 #8 — AL JAZEERA: “IS EVEN THE PRETENCE OF A CEASEFIRE OVER?” — DEATH TOLL 2,846
[Al Jazeera — confirmed May 11, updated context today]
Since Israel began its war on Lebanon on March 2, at least 2,846 people have been killed and more than a million displaced. Israel’s offensive has included a major ground invasion and the occupation of southern Lebanon. The ceasefire in Lebanon that started on April 16 is increasingly coming under strain, with both Israel and Hezbollah ramping up attacks against each other. Al Jazeera’s framing — “Is even the pretence of a ceasefire over?” — captures the defining question of today.

⚠️ DIPLOMATIC STATUS — JUNE 1, 2026
Tomorrow’s June 2–3 talks are happening in the worst possible diplomatic conditions of the entire war.
The June 2–3 talks will occur against: Beaufort Castle seized, Litani crossed, Dahiyeh strikes resuming, Kiryat Shmona hit by rockets, a 20-year-old IDF soldier killed this morning, 13 Israelis killed since the ceasefire began, and European leaders condemning Israel while Hezbollah fires on Israeli cities.
What Lebanon needs from June 2–3:
- An immediate halt to Dahiyeh strikes (the US must reimpose the restriction it just lifted)
- An immediate halt to north-of-Litani ground operations
- A formal framework for IDF withdrawal from positions north of the Litani
- Reactivation of the 2024 ceasefire monitoring committee
What Israel will demand:
- Hezbollah disarmament before any withdrawal
- Permanent security zone formalisation
- End to rocket fire on northern Israel
- Recognition of Israeli right to operate in Lebanon “as long as Hezbollah poses a threat”
The US position: Having lifted the Dahiyeh restriction and allowed the Litani crossing, the US has materially weakened its own leverage over Israel. If the US cannot reimpose meaningful constraints on Israeli operations, the June 2–3 talks will produce nothing, the ceasefire will formally collapse, and Lebanon faces a return to the full-scale war of March-April at a moment when it is far more devastated than it was then.
📱 EMERGENCY GUIDANCE — JUNE 1, 2026
🚨🚨 MAXIMUM EMERGENCY. TWO NEW THRESHOLDS TODAY.
DAHIYEH AND ALL SOUTH BEIRUT SUBURBS: EVACUATE NOW. Israel has announced the resumption of large-scale strikes on Dahiyeh. The US restriction that limited Dahiyeh strikes is lifted. All persons in Dahiyeh, Haret Hreik, Bir al-Abed, Burj el-Barajneh must leave immediately. Do not wait. Do not collect belongings. Evacuate to central or north Beirut or to North Lebanon.
TYRE CITY: EVACUATE NOW. The IDF is conducting widespread airstrikes in the city of Tyre itself — not just surrounding villages. Tyre city is now a direct IDF strike zone.
ALL SOUTH LEBANON SOUTH OF SIDON: MAXIMUM EMERGENCY EVACUATION. Wide-scale evacuation warning reissued. Beaufort Castle seized. IDF north of Litani. Rockets and airstrikes throughout the region. Every available road north must be used immediately.
BEKAA VALLEY / MARJAYOUN AREA: EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY. Beaufort Castle overlooking the entire area. Arnoun struck. IDF on ground. Leave via Beirut-Damascus highway.
AIRPORT: OPERATING — DEPART LEBANON NOW. This is the most urgent CIS Security departure recommendation since Black Wednesday. The resumption of Dahiyeh strikes and the IDF’s most comprehensive expansion since March 2 create conditions in which airport access could be disrupted. Depart immediately.

🔴🔴 PRIORITY 1: DAHIYEH EVACUATION — STRIKES RESUMING NOW Large-scale Dahiyeh strikes are resuming today. CIS Security is coordinating emergency evacuations from all south Beirut suburbs. Contact us immediately for evacuation route guidance from Dahiyeh and Haret Hreik.
🔴🔴 PRIORITY 2: TYRE CITY AND SOUTH LEBANON EVACUATION IDF strikes inside Tyre city. Mass evacuation order active. CIS Security has confirmed northward evacuation routes. Contact us immediately.
🔴 PRIORITY 3: JUNE 2–3 TALKS — EMERGENCY WATCH TOMORROW The fourth round of Israel-Lebanon political talks begins tomorrow. CIS Security will monitor in real time and issue emergency bulletins immediately on any breakthrough or collapse. The outcome of these talks will determine Lebanon’s trajectory for the next 28 days.
🔴 PRIORITY 4: AIRPORT DEPARTURE — URGENT Airport operating. Given the resumption of Dahiyeh strikes and the overall escalation, the window for normal departure may narrow. CIS Security strongly recommends immediate departure for all non-essential personnel.
⚠️ FINAL ASSESSMENT — JUNE 1, 2026
Today, Monday June 1, is the 46th day of the ceasefire. In 46 days of ceasefire, the IDF has crossed the Litani River, seized Beaufort Castle, killed 2,846+ Lebanese, resumed large-scale Dahiyeh strikes, and the US has lifted its own restriction on attacking Beirut. In the same 46 days, Hezbollah has killed 13 Israelis, fired rockets at Kiryat Shmona, targeted Iron Dome launchers, and killed a 20-year-old IDF soldier this morning with a drone near the newly seized Beaufort Castle. The ceasefire is dead in south Lebanon. It is dying in Beirut.
Tomorrow, June 2, Lebanon and Israel return to the State Department in Washington for the fourth round of political talks. These talks will take place in the shadow of the Israeli flag flying over Beaufort Castle and the smoke rising over Dahiyeh. They will take place as a 20-year-old soldier lies dead. They will take place as Kiryat Shmona residents walk past rocket damage.
Whether anything productive can emerge from talks that occur in these conditions is the defining question of this moment. CIS Security’s assessment is blunt: without an immediate US intervention to halt Dahiyeh strikes and north-of-Litani ground operations, the June 2–3 talks will produce nothing, the ceasefire will formally end before June 29, and Lebanon will face the resumption of the war that has already killed nearly 3,000 of its people.
For everyone in Lebanon: act on the evacuation orders. Leave south Lebanon, the Bekaa, and now Dahiyeh immediately. The airport is operating. Leave now.
