🗓️ WAR DAY 100 — THE STATE OF LEBANON
Today is the 100th day of Israel’s war on Lebanon. A century of conflict that has killed over 3,500 people, displaced 1.2 million, emptied a fifth of the country, demolished dozens of villages in the south, and drawn Iran and the United States into direct military exchanges. There is no ceasefire in Lebanon. There never has been. Today — on the 100th day — Israel struck Tyre, its fourth-largest city, for the first time including its Christian quarter.
⛔ EXECUTIVE SUMMARY — TUESDAY JUNE 9, 2026
The arc of the last 72 hours:
- June 7 (Day 98): Israel struck Dahiyeh — 2 killed, 11 wounded. First strike on Beirut since the June 3 ceasefire renewal.
- June 7–8 overnight: Iran launched multiple ballistic missile barrages at Israel — first since April ceasefire. Israel struck Iran back. Houthis threatened Red Sea.
- June 8 (Day 99): Trump intervened — both sides paused. Iran warned: resume if Lebanon strikes continue. Israel vowed Lebanon strikes would continue regardless. US Ambassador Issa told President Aoun Washington does not want the escalation to expand. Lebanese army: 29 soldiers killed in Israeli strikes since March.
- June 9 (Day 100 — TODAY): Israel immediately resumed Lebanon strikes. Tyre: full city evacuation ordered including Christian quarter — first time ever. IDF struck before the warning was even issued. At least 8 killed, 35 wounded including 3 children in the al-Masaken housing neighbourhood. Death toll shifting upward through the afternoon as rescuers reached lower floors — Al Jazeera reported figures as high as 17. MSF suspended hospital operations and mobile clinics in the area. UNESCO World Heritage Site Tyre damaged. Christian leaders from three denominations issued emergency appeal. Lebanese army deployed to Christian quarter to prove no Hezbollah presence. Hezbollah claimed 16 operations against IDF including forcing an IDF advance to retreat near Beaufort Castle.
Trump told reporters he is in the “final throes” of a “very, very good deal” with Iran — possibly signed “in two or three days.” He said the Strait of Hormuz would open “immediately upon signing.” He also warned Netanyahu he would be on his own if attacks on Iran continued. Meanwhile, Israel’s Air Force struck Tyre.
📰 THE TYRE CRISIS — WAR DAY 100 DEFINING EVENT
Tyre (Sur) is Lebanon’s fourth-largest city, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. Its submerged and above-ground Roman-era ruins are of global cultural significance. Since the war began, it has been struck repeatedly — but its Christian quarter had been spared from both strikes and evacuation orders until today.
The sequence on June 9:
At approximately 9:31 a.m. local time, Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee posted an evacuation warning for the entire city of Tyre on X, including the Christian quarter: “Urgent warning to the residents of the city of Tyre, including the Christian Quarter and the surrounding camps and neighborhoods… evacuate immediately and move north of the Zahrani River.” The warning cited alleged Hezbollah presence in the Christian quarter — without providing evidence.
However, the Lebanese Health Ministry reported that an Israeli strike on the al-Masaken housing neighbourhood in Tyre’s eastern edge killed at least 8 people and wounded 35 — before or simultaneous with the evacuation warning being issued. An NNA report cited the strike preceding the warning. The Israeli military said it had targeted “terror infrastructure” and did not respond to questions about the sequence.
Who was in the Christian quarter? Many Lebanese Shiite Muslims displaced from other areas of southern Lebanon had sheltered in the Christian quarter precisely because it had been excluded from evacuation orders. After Israel last week alleged Hezbollah was operating there, the Lebanese Army deployed to the area to demonstrate the absence of armed groups. Christian leaders issued an emergency joint statement calling for international action.
MSF response: Doctors Without Borders said they were “deeply concerned” by what they called “forced displacement practices” that “expose people to further harm by compelling them to move in unsafe and chaotic conditions.” MSF suspended its medical activities at several nearby hospitals and mobile clinics for the day.
Christian leadership statement: Metropolitan Archbishop George Iskandar (Melkite Greek Catholic), Metropolitan Elias Kfoury (Greek Orthodox), and Archeparch Charbel Abdullah (Maronite) jointly called on the international community and Lebanese officials to prevent an attack on the Christian district. “The old city is not merely a residential area,” they said.
Exodus: An AFP correspondent reported hundreds fleeing the Christian district. Civil Defence teams evacuated elderly residents. Cars loaded with luggage clogged roads out of the city toward the Zahrani River.

🛡️ CIS SECURITY — JUNE 9 ASSESSMENT & GUIDANCE
Trusted Security Excellence Since 1990 | “Because Your Safety Isn’t Optional”
CURRENT CIS POSTURE: LEVEL 5 — MAXIMUM ALERT (Maintained from June 7)
War Day 100 summary for CIS clients:
The Iran–Israel exchange of June 7–8 paused under US pressure. Israel’s response was to immediately resume Lebanon strikes at maximum intensity — War Day 100 saw Tyre’s Christian quarter included in an evacuation order for the first time, and 8–17 people killed in a single strike on a residential area. Iran’s “crushing measures” warning remains live and is conditioned on Israel stopping in Lebanon. Israel has explicitly said it will not stop in Lebanon.
The fundamental equation remains unchanged: Iran will resume strikes on Israel if Israel continues in Lebanon. Israel is continuing in Lebanon. The next Dahiyeh strike — or any strike Iran considers beyond the pale — could restart the exchange. Every client in Lebanon should maintain emergency preparedness accordingly.
ZONE-BY-ZONE GUIDANCE — JUNE 9
TYRE: LEAVE NOW. The entire city is under evacuation order including the Christian quarter. An Israeli strike killed 8–17 people in the al-Masaken neighbourhood today. MSF has suspended hospital operations nearby. The evacuation order urges residents north of the Zahrani River. CIS cannot protect personnel in any part of Tyre until further notice.
SOUTH LEBANON (general): Do not enter. Do not advise return for displaced families. ~3,500 airstrikes have targeted south Lebanon since the April ceasefire alone. IDF five-division ground presence. Hezbollah active. Daily casualties.
DAHIYEH / SOUTH BEIRUT: Do not enter. Struck June 7. The next Dahiyeh strike restarts Iran’s missile response.
NABATIEH: Do not enter. Active strikes.
JEZZINE: High danger zone. No movement.
BEKAA: High danger. Restrict movement.
BEIRUT (non-Dahiyeh): High alert. Normal operations possible with active contingency planning. Know your shelter. Avoid Dahiyeh vicinity. Monitor news continuously.
AIRPORT / MASNAA: Currently operating. Trump’s deal optimism — if a deal is indeed reached in “two or three days” — would be transformative. But Trump has made this claim before; CIS will not downgrade posture on the basis of presidential timelines alone.
WHAT CIS IS WATCHING — THE NEXT 72 HOURS
- Does Trump’s deal materialise? He says “two or three days.” The Strait of Hormuz opening “immediately upon signing” would be the clearest signal. If genuine: transformative for Lebanon. If another delay: situation deteriorates further.
- Does Israel strike Dahiyeh again? Every Hezbollah drone attack on IDF forces (daily) risks triggering another Dahiyeh strike, which restarts Iran’s “crushing measures.”
- Does Tyre’s Christian quarter get struck? Christian bishops have issued emergency appeals. Lebanese army has deployed to prove no Hezbollah presence. International attention is high. But IDF has not retracted the evacuation order.
- June 22 Washington talks: Still on the calendar — but the June 7–8 exchange and continued Lebanon strikes cast serious doubt on whether the framework can survive to that date.
- Lebanese army: 29 soldiers killed since March. The army’s deployment to Tyre’s Christian quarter to prevent Israeli strikes there puts Lebanese Army personnel in a dangerous position.

⚠️ FINAL ASSESSMENT — WAR DAY 100, JUNE 9, 2026
One hundred days. A city being emptied. A deal that may be two or three days away — or not.
Today — the 100th day of this war — Israel ordered the entire city of Tyre to evacuate, including its 2,000-year-old Christian quarter, and struck a residential housing block killing between 8 and 17 people. MSF suspended its hospitals. Three bishops issued an emergency plea. An AFP correspondent watched cars stream north.
At the same time, Trump told reporters he was in the “final throes” of a “very, very good deal” with Iran, possibly signable in two or three days. He has said similar things before; the war passed 100 days while he was saying it.
The gap the New York Times described this week captures it precisely: “The gap between what Trump announces from Washington and what the Israeli air force does over Lebanon is, for now, the entire story. He talks of signatures. The south buries its dead.”
Iran has not resumed strikes — yet. Its condition is that Israel stop in Lebanon. Israel is not stopping in Lebanon. This is the contradiction that will define whether this war escalates back to the Iran–Israel exchange level, or whether a deal — if genuine — breaks the cycle before the next trigger is pulled.
Lebanon has buried over 3,500 people in 100 days. 1.2 million are displaced. A fifth of the country has been evacuated. Tyre — one of the oldest cities on earth — is being emptied. And the ceasefire that was supposed to protect them was never signed by the party doing the fighting.
CIS Security remains at your side. 24/7. Whatever comes next.
