INDEX LEVEL: 🔴 CRITICAL DANGER OVERALL INDEX: 96/100 TREND: ⬆️ DETERIORATING — The regional war has significantly re-escalated. The US resumed full-scale strikes on Iran on June 9–10 after blaming Tehran for downing a US Apache helicopter; Iran declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to all vessels; US struck a tanker off Oman killing 3 Indian nationals; Bahrain hit by Iranian drones; Israel killed 13 in Lebanon today; IDF Katz claimed to have cleared Hezbollah from Tyre’s Christian quarter; hundreds rallied in Dahiyeh in support of Iran; Netanyahu released a video to Lebanese people urging them to “seize your future — join Israel”; UN human rights chief deployed investigators to Lebanon; Brent crude at $91/barrel; S&P and Nasdaq in significant decline. Lebanon is caught between two escalating wars simultaneously.

🚨 THE BIG PICTURE — WEDNESDAY JUNE 10, 2026

Lebanon today was simultaneously:

  1. The target of ongoing IDF strikes — 13 killed, Tyre ongoing, south Lebanon active
  2. A spectator to a rapidly escalating US–Iran war that directly threatens Lebanon’s ports, supply lines, and economic survival
  3. The subject of a dramatic political message — Netanyahu’s video to the Lebanese people saying “Join Israel”
  4. The site of a major Hezbollah solidarity rally — hundreds in Dahiyeh waving Iranian flags despite the war

The Strait of Hormuz — through which Lebanon’s imported fuel and goods pass — has now been declared closed by Iran’s IRGC, with a warning that any ship attempting to pass “will be targeted.” CENTCOM denies the closure is effective, but traffic has collapsed to 5% of pre-war baseline. Oil is at $91/barrel and climbing.

⛔ EXECUTIVE SUMMARY — JUNE 10, WAR DAY 101

PART 1 — THE US–IRAN ESCALATION (DIRECT THREAT TO LEBANON’S SUPPLY LINES)

Background: After the June 7–8 Iran–Israel exchange, Trump intervened and both sides paused. But on June 9, the US accused Iran of downing an American Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. Trump declared Iran “will have to pay the price.” The US resumed strikes.

June 9–10 — New US Strikes on Iran: CENTCOM launched “additional self-defense strikes against multiple targets” in Iran, including Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communication systems, and air defense sites. CENTCOM stated: “U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy assets fired precision munitions on Iranian targets that posed a threat to U.S. forces and international commercial ships transiting regional waters.” The USS Michael Murphy launched Tomahawk cruise missiles. US strikes also targeted air defense, ground control stations and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz on June 9.

Iran’s Response: Iran’s IRGC formally declared: “Effective immediately, due to insecurity in the region, the Strait of Hormuz is declared closed to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships. Any vessel attempting to transit the strait will be targeted.” Iran also launched retaliatory strikes at US military facilities in the Persian Gulf. Explosions were heard across Iran in the early hours of June 11. Iran’s President Pezeshkian said Iran would “stand firm” and denounced threats against its infrastructure.

Tanker Attack — Three Indian Nationals Killed: CENTCOM confirmed it targeted the Palauan-flagged tanker Stabelloin the Sea of Oman on June 9, alleging it was transporting Iranian oil in violation of the US naval blockade. The crew “repeatedly failed to comply with directions from American forces.” A US aircraft fired precision munitions into the ship’s engine room to disable it. India’s Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways confirmed three Indian nationals were killed. The Indian Foreign Ministry announced the deaths as a major diplomatic incident.

Bahrain Hit: An 11-year-old girl was injured in Bahrain after shrapnel from an intercepted Iranian drone fell, damaging homes and vehicles in Hamad Town and the capital Manama. Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior condemned Iran’s “systematic hostility” and banned citizens from traveling to Iran and Iraq. Bahrain said it intercepted “an unspecified number” of Iranian missiles and drones.

CENTCOM Position: CENTCOM denied Iran’s claim that the Strait of Hormuz is closed, stating commercial ships continue to transit. However, independent shipping data shows Hormuz traffic collapsed to approximately 5% of pre-war baseline (4.7 ships/day average; 1 tanker/day = approximately 2% of pre-war tanker traffic).

IAEA Move: The IAEA’s 35-nation board of governors approved a US-backed resolution demanding Iran declare its remaining stockpile of enriched uranium and allow inspectors into the country.

Qatar Mediation: A Qatari negotiating team reportedly traveled to Tehran on June 10 to address ongoing tensions.

Markets: Brent crude rose 1.8% to $91.10/barrel. The S&P 500 is down 4.5% and Nasdaq down 7.1% since record highs on June 2. The Dow is down approximately 3.2% since its June 4 record high.

PART 2 — LEBANON — JUNE 10

Strikes — 13 Killed: At least 13 people were killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon today, per Times of Israel reporting citing Lebanese health authorities. The IDF said it struck Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure in Tyre and other areas of southern Lebanon in the past day, including a weapons cache. The IDF published footage of the strikes.

Tyre — Christian Quarter: Defence Minister Katz stated at a ceremony on June 10 that the IDF “cleared out a Christian neighborhood in Tyre and attacked operatives of the terror group there.” He said residents of the Christian quarter are now returning to their homes. This statement directly contradicts the June 9 picture of mass exodus and Christian bishops’ emergency appeals — CIS notes this claim has not been independently verified.

Dahiyeh Rally: Hundreds of people — including many women and children — rallied in Beirut’s southern suburbs (Dahiyeh) on the evening of June 10 in support of Iran and its allies. AFP correspondents confirmed the gathering. Attendees waved Hezbollah and Iranian flags and held portraits of both the current Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and his assassinated predecessor Ali Khamenei. One attendee told AFP: “Their planes don’t frighten us, their weapons don’t frighten us. We will stay and struggle and we will be victorious, God willing.”

Netanyahu Video to Lebanese People: In a video message posted on X/Twitter in Arabic on June 10, Netanyahu made a direct appeal to the Lebanese people: “Israel is not at war with you. We are at war with Hezbollah, that has taken your country hostage, that does Iran’s bidding, that uses your territory to launch terrorist attacks against Israel. Do you remember what Lebanon was like before Iran and Hezbollah turned it into a nightmare? Remember the cafés? Remember the culture? Remember the calm? All that’s gone… You deserve better. Your children deserve better. Hezbollah is weaker than ever. Israel is stronger than ever. We’ve taken out nearly 10,000 Hezbollah terrorists so far. We’re systematically clearing out South Lebanon. Seize your future. Join Israel. Build safety and prosperity for all of our children. And once Hezbollah is dismantled, the possibilities are endless.”

Israeli President Herzog issued a similar appeal on the same day.

UN Investigators Deployed: The UN human rights chief announced deployment of investigators to Lebanon to “collect evidence” on “alleged rights abuses” — more than three months after hostilities flared.

Israel’s Campaign is “Far from Over”: Defence Minister Katz said at a ceremony on June 10 that Israel’s campaign against Iran is “far from over” and that the military remains prepared to “attack with great strength.” He praised IDF soldiers “delivering heavy blows against Hezbollah in Lebanon.”

Lebanese Death Toll Update: Israeli strikes targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon have killed more than 3,600 people, according to the Lebanese health ministry — a new confirmed figure published June 10.

🛡️ CIS SECURITY — JUNE 10 ASSESSMENT & GUIDANCE

Trusted Security Excellence Since 1990 | “Because Your Safety Isn’t Optional”

CURRENT CIS POSTURE: LEVEL 5 — MAXIMUM ALERT (Maintained, elevated sub-level)

June 10 introduces a new and extremely serious dimension to the threat landscape for Lebanon: the Strait of Hormuz is now declared closed by Iran, and US–Iran exchanges are escalating beyond Lebanon’s borders directly into Lebanon’s economic lifeline.

THE HORMUZ THREAT — WHAT IT MEANS FOR LEBANON

Lebanon imports approximately 90% of its energy and a significant portion of its food and goods through maritime routes. While Lebanon does not directly transit the Strait of Hormuz for most of its trade, the closure has cascading effects:

  • Fuel prices will continue to rise — Brent at $91 and climbing directly translates to higher fuel costs in Lebanon, which is already operating on scarce foreign currency
  • Regional shipping is increasingly disrupted — alternative routes add days and costs; insurance premiums on cargo bound for Lebanon are rising
  • Port Beirut depends on uninterrupted regional maritime commerce; any escalation that extends to the Eastern Mediterranean could directly threaten port operations
  • The dollar exchange rate will feel pressure as oil rises and regional economic uncertainty deepens

CIS advises all clients to review fuel supply contingencies, generator fuel stocks, and supply chain vulnerabilities immediately.

LEBANON SECURITY — JUNE 10 SPECIFICS

TYRE: Evacuation order remains in force. Katz claims Hezbollah was cleared from Christian quarter and residents are returning — but this has not been independently verified by Lebanese authorities or international media. CIS maintains: do not enter Tyre until independent confirmation of security restoration.

DAHIYEH: Tonight’s Hezbollah solidarity rally — hundreds of people openly waving Iranian and Hezbollah flags — signals that the Dahiyeh community is doubling down, not evacuating. This raises the probability of another IDF strike on Dahiyeh if Hezbollah conducts an attack on northern Israel. Any Dahiyeh strike risks restarting the Iran missile exchange.

NETANYAHU’S MESSAGE: The “Seize your future — join Israel” video is significant politically, but must not be misread as a sign of impending ceasefire. The IDF killed 13 people in Lebanon on the same day it was broadcast. The message is directed at Lebanese public opinion and the international community — it does not change the operational reality on the ground.

UN INVESTIGATORS: The deployment of UN human rights investigators to Lebanon is welcome but will take weeks to produce findings. It provides no immediate protection.

WHAT CIS IS WATCHING — CRITICAL NEXT 48 HOURS

  1. Does Iran’s Hormuz closure hold or escalate? Iran has warned any ship will be “targeted.” If the US attempts to forcibly re-open the strait — or if a major tanker is sunk — the conflict crosses a new threshold with direct global economic consequences for Lebanon.
  2. Does Trump’s “deal in two or three days” claim from June 9 materialise? The Qatar mediation team is in Tehran. If a deal framework emerges, the entire picture changes rapidly. If it collapses, US strikes intensify further.
  3. Does Israel strike Dahiyeh again? The rally tonight puts hundreds of Hezbollah supporters on the streets of Dahiyeh — the very area Israel has pledged to strike after any Hezbollah attack on northern Israel. Any Hezbollah drone/rocket incident could trigger a strike tonight or tomorrow.
  4. Beirut Port / Airport: Airport currently operational. Beirut Port functioning. Both could be affected by rapid regional escalation. CIS monitoring continuously.
  5. June 22 Washington talks: The US–Iran re-escalation makes the June 22 Lebanon talks framework increasingly fragile. CIS will monitor for any formal cancellation.

⚠️ FINAL ASSESSMENT — WAR DAY 101, JUNE 10, 2026

The war has widened. Lebanon is now collateral to two simultaneous conflicts.

On War Day 101, Lebanon sits at the intersection of two escalating military confrontations: the IDF–Hezbollah ground and air war in the south, and the US–Iran naval and missile exchange that is now threatening the global shipping routes on which Lebanon’s survival depends.

The Strait of Hormuz is declared closed. A tanker was struck off Oman with three people killed. Bahrain was hit by Iranian drones. Explosions rang across Iran through the night. And through all of this — Israel killed 13 more people in Lebanon, Netanyahu filmed a video telling the Lebanese to “join Israel,” and hundreds rallied in Dahiyeh waving Iranian flags.

The Trump deal that was “two or three days away” on Monday appears no closer on Wednesday. The IAEA has demanded Iran open its nuclear sites to inspectors. Qatar is mediating in Tehran. The ground is shifting rapidly.

For Lebanon, the immediate question is not just who is shooting where — it is whether the country’s economic oxygen supply, already thin, can survive a prolonged Hormuz closure on top of 101 days of war. The answer, without resolution, is no.

CIS Security is monitoring all of these developments in real time. We remain at your service, 24/7.
